Bold makeup completes any rave look—and for EDC, it’s time to go all out! The energy under the electric sky is unlike any other, and whether you like an intense graphic liner or shimmering glitter, there's a makeup look that will be perfect for you. With EDC approaching quickly, it’s time to get inspired with these 10 makeup ideas.

Graphic Liner

Nothing makes a statement quite like graphic eyeliner. Whether you go for black, white, or colored liner, you can accentuate your eyes by drawing geometric lines, dual wings, or unique shapes. Look for a colored, waterproof, liquid eyeliner to create this look and use the natural shape of your eye as a guide for where to place the lines.

Stick-on Gems

face jewels

It’s EDC, so it’s time to pull out all the stops! Stick-on gems add all the bling to your rave look. There are single press-on rhinestones or packs of jewels you can apply above your eyebrows or below your eyes. Some are even reusable and can be applied with eyelash glue if the stick starts to fade!

Temporary Tattoos

Be a show-stopper by applying temporary tats to your face! You can use them on your cheekbones, next to your eyes, or above your brows. You can also pair them with face jewels to put them around your body as seen above.

Colorful Inner Corners

This is my personal go-to rave look. I do my classic black eyeliner wing with no shadow on my lid - but then I add a pop of neon color to the inner corner of my eyes. I especially love doing this with shimmery, holographic eye shadow. It brightens and draws attention to the eyes.

Rainbow colors

Go with the full rainbow spectrum this EDC! You can apply ROYGBIV to each eyelid - or, do red, orange, and yellow on one lid, and green, blue, and purple on the other lid for a look that spans your whole face

Bright brows

Filling in your brows is a common step for applying makeup, but have you ever tried a vivid, colorful brow? You can use eye shadow or even a colored liner to fill them in with a color of your choice, letting your brows take the center stage of your look!

Monochrome

If you’re doing a single colored outfit, like an all pink or an all neon green look, stick with that monochrome color for your makeup. It will tie your whole look together. Adding some stick-on rhinestones that match your color will put the cherry on top.

Holographic Highlighter

I’m obsessed with holographic, shimmery, color-shifting makeup! Adding some holographic color to your cheekbones will keep you looking like a shimmery fairy all night long.

Bold Patterns

Have you ever tried to paint on cow spots, plaid lines, or fluffy clouds to your eyelids? EDC could be the opportunity you’re waiting for! Depending on your outfit, match a bold pattern and apply it to your eyes.

Hot or Cold

Would you go with red, orange, yellow, or green, blue, purple? Pick a side - warm or cool - and use that for your makeup inspiration. You can use colored liners, shimmery eye shadows, and vivid lipstick to make this hot or cold look come to life. Bonus points: your best friend can be the hot to your cold, or vice versa!

No matter which makeup idea you go for, be sure to apply setting spray before heading to EDC to lock in your makeup for a long night of dancing! It’s smart to bring eyelash glue or lipstick with you in case of an emergency re-apply. The hardest part, for me at least, is not touching my face once my makeup is on! If applied correctly and set in place with setting spray, it’s best not to mess with it. But, I would recommend sticking a few cotton swabs in your bag, just in case you need to touch up the area under your eyes. We’ll all be crying during our favorite sets, but we’ve got to keep our makeup looking fire. Remember to stay hydrated and have an amazing time under the electric sky!

https://www.homegameauction.com/en-ie/blogs/post/how-to-remove-glitter 2021-08-30T12:00:00-07:00 2022-03-04T11:54:17-08:00 How to Remove Glitter from Your Face & Hair Julia Sachs Glitter is all fun and games until you get home after a long night of raving and face the challenge of trying to get it off. It can be an absolute nightmare to take off, and if not done correctly you could be left with little glittery reminders for weeks!

If you’re worried about turning up to your Monday morning meeting still covered in glitter [Editor's Note: glitter at homegameauction meetings is welcomed with open arms] then this one's for you! Here are our top tips on how to remove glitter from your face and hair properly.

Hot Water and Soap

Without a doubt, the best way to remove glitter is just by washing your face with soap under a hot shower. Use a good oil-based face wash or cleanser to get those last pesky bits of sparkle off. Simple as that!

Hot water may be hard to come by if you’re camping at a music festival so keep scrolling to find some better hacks for removing glitter when you’re not heading home right away!

You Can Always Count on Oil

Use coconut oil or olive oil to gently emulsify your makeup, leaving your skin soft and sparkle free.

Saturate a cotton pad with the oil of your choice and glide it over your skin in a sweeping motion. Depending on how much glitter you have on your face, you may have to repeat this a few times. Once you’ve removed most of the sparkle, go over your skin with a water-soaked cotton pad to get the remainder of the glitter and the oil off.

Use olive oil to wash the glitter out of your hair. Lather it all over your scalp, massage it through your hair, let it soak for 10 minutes then wash it out. Not only will your hair be glitter-free but it’ll also be smooth as silk!

Use A Spoolie Brush

Grab a package of spoolie brushes (those brushes used in mascara tubes) from the drugstore the next time you're there to use as a glitter removing tool. Dry spoolie brushes will pick up the glitter from your skin easily, and help you direct where you're removing the glitter so you can make sure it ends up in the garbage and not in our water supply or on the ground outside.

Blot Glitter Out of Your Hair with Hairspray

If glitter roots are your festival go-to, you’ll love how simple this cleansing technique is. Spray kitchen roll with hairspray until it’s sticky, then blot the sparkle out of our roots. It will lift the specks of glitter out of your scalp without pulling the hairs out of your head!

Steer Clear of Face Wipes

Face wipes can irritate your skin, leading to redness or a rash. Definitely not how you want to end a fantastic weekend at a music festival! They also tend to just move the glitter around rather than wipe it off, so in the end they don’t make much of a difference, stay away from them!

Use a Bit of Sticky Tape as a Last Resort

If you’ve got some stubborn glitter residue, you can always rely on a little bit of sticky tape. Wrap a small piece of tape around your finger with the sticky part facing the outside, then just press it gently onto your skin to remove every bit of sparkle left. But whatever you do, only use this method for your face and body, don’t try doing this on your hair!

Apply Your Glitter with a Proper Glitter Adhesive

Think ahead, if you want to wipe off your sparkle with ease, apply it on your skin with a better base coat. Using an adhesive like our Lunautics Galactic Glitter Glue will not only make the application much more seamless but also makes the removal process much easier. It’s water soluble which means you can just use water and it will melt right off!

Glitter is an absolute must-have accessory for raves. It’s super fun to experiment with and it can take your outfit to new dazzling heights. Applying it can be tricky though if you don’t know what you’re doing and can lead to your glitter looking patchy or just simply not looking good. But we’re here to fix that! Here are our foolproof ways to help you put on glitter like a total rave pro.

Don’t Raid Your Craft Drawer for Glitter

One of the worst mistakes you can make when creating your glitter looks is to use craft glitter. It’s not manufactured to stick on your skin, it’s much harder, and it has sharper edges so it’ll dry it out. Or worse you might cut the surface of your skin and get a rash, especially if you use it on your face or around your eye area where your skin is particularly fragile. Be sure to get some quality cosmetic-grade glitter that you can wear safely and that will treat your skin with kindness!

We regularly update our rave glitter selection to meet all of your sparkly rave needs so you’ll never run out of options!

Choose Your Look Before You Start

I totally get it, when you get your hands on a pot of glitter the first thing you want to do is go to town on the sparkly stuff and put it all over yourself. Trust me, I've been there and done that but it’s not a good look. I look back on festival photos and often wonder what I was thinking! My advice, choose your glitter look before you start, it can be the difference between being a sparkly rave goddess and a hot glittery mess.

Need some glitter inspo? Check out our top looks and unleash your inner unicorn at your next rave!

Glue With a Glitter Adhesive

The best way to make sure your look stays in place at a rave is to use a glitter adhesive. Apply it on the area you’d like to put glitter on, then lightly sprinkle sparkles over it. Tidy it up a bit if necessary and then allow it to dry. It’s as easy as that!

Treat yourself to the Lunautics Galactic Glitter Glue, it’ll make sure you never lose your sparkle no matter how hard you ride that rail and sweat at your next rave!

Use a Makeup Brush

You could totally apply glitter with your fingertips, but I’ve always found that dabbing it on with a makeup brush helps to make sure you get it in all the right places. Using your fingers can quickly turn into a glitter nightmare because it’ll often get stuck to your fingers rather than your face. I usually pack a few different makeup brushes when I travel to music festivals so I can get creative with my glitter looks.

Create Glitter Stamps Out of Makeup Sponges

This hack is particularly good for the last day of a music festival. At this point you’re probably sleep-deprived and the last thing you want to do is sit there with different makeup brushes trying to figure out how to apply glitter to your face. Instead, use custom glitter stamps made out of cheap or old makeup sponges! You can cut out all sorts of shapes, then dip that sponge in glitter and dab on your face for a super quick glitter look.

Remember to cut your glitter stamps at home and bring them to the festival, don’t try to bring scissors to the event!

Have Q-Tips on Standby

Glitter mishaps happen to the best of us! It can get really messy and it can sometimes get in the wrong places, so make sure to always have a few cotton swabs at the ready to tidy up your glitter looks before heading to the rave!

Now you’re ready to pull off glitter like a total rave pro! We can’t wait to see what looks you create at your next rave, be sure to tag us @iheartraves on IG.

You can never go wrong with wearing face glitter to a music festival! But the task of creating a glittering look can be a daunting and messy affair. Knowing how and where to apply the glitter can be the difference between looking like a human crafts project and a sparkly goddess. Fear not, we’re here to help! Whether you’ve a glitter newbie or a sparkle veteran, get ready to embrace your inner unicorn with our top face glitter looks!

Highlight Your Cheekbones

[Inspo: THIS]

For a casual and quick look, replace your highlighter with glitter. Put as little or as much as you’d like! Keep it just on your cheekbones or spread it as high as and into your hairline for a really dramatic look. Have fun with it and get creative by switching up the colors or throwing in some chunky sparkle over finer ones.

We recommend gently tapping some Galactic Glitter Glue on your cheekbones after you’ve applied the rest of your makeup, then sprinkle Lunautics 24Kayy Glitter over the top. The glue will help you keep your sparkle on all night long!

Glitter Eyelids

[Inspo: THIS]

The easiest way to wear face glitter is to load your eyelids with some fine glitter. If you want to mix things up with chunky glitter just make sure you keep it in the middle and outer part of your eyelid for comfort!

After you’ve finished your eye makeup, sweep Lunautics Zenon UV Reactive Glitter over the top of some Galactic Glitter Glue, for an irresistibly glowy look.

Under Eye Shimmer

[Inspo: THIS]

Heading to a multi-day festival? This one's for you! Perfect if you want to get sparkly and cover up your eye bags from the night before.

Carefully apply Galactic Glitter Glue in a loose triangle shape under your eyes, followed by some Lunautics Cosmic Galaxy Glitter and you’re ready to hit the dance floor!

Sparkly Lips

[Inspo: THIS]

Glitter lips don’t taste great and it’s not the most durable of makeup looks but they look incredible in photos. As long as you don’t mind eating a little glitter throughout the day, this look is definitely worth the trouble!

Start by applying your favorite lip liner and lip stain, this will make sure that when the glitter starts to get patchy your lips won’t lose their shape and color. Do one lip at a time so you have time to dab on the glitter before the lip stain dries.

Glitter Half Moon

[Inspo: THIS]

This is your quintessential festival glitter makeup look! Create a C-shape starting above your brow bone, cover your temple, and brush down on your cheekbone.

We suggest using the Lunautics Rave Bae Neon Glitter Stax for this look so you create depth and detail with the different colors of glitter!

Go big with larger face gems like the Lunautics Cosmic Crystals Whisper Face Jewels or opt for something a bit more subtle like the Lunautics Glam Girl Face Jewels. No matter your face gem style, don’t be afraid to be a little extra and have fun with creating your look!

Hot tip: wear your face gems on more than one occasion. Simply place them back in their package after first use, and reapply with spirit gum or eyelash adhesive the next time.

Music festivals are the best time to try something you wouldn’t normally dare to wear on a normal day. Step out of your comfort zone with a bold or bright lipstick look. Not enough for you? Layer some glitter over the top of your lipstick for an even more glam and dramatic festival makeup look.

Show Off Your Flash Tat Packs

Temporary tattoos aren’t just for your body! Rock a unique makeup look with this range of Lunautics FLWR PWR Tempo Tats. Unlike face gems or glitter, you don’t have to worry about taking them off. They last up to 5 days, so you can either keep them all weekend long or remove them with a little oil and try a different combination of tats for every day you’re at a festival.

Slay as a Mystic Mermaid

[Inspo: THIS]

We love all things blue, purple and holographic. You can replicate this makeup look by simply putting a pair of fishnet stockings over your face and dusting different shades of powder over it.

Combine all of the above into one epic festival look! Add the Lunautics X IHR Violet Slayer Face Gems and IHeart Lunautics Angel Aura Glitter in the mix and there you have it, you’re a stunning mystic festival mermaid. We hope these suggestions inspire all your upcoming music festival makeup looks, don’t forget to tag us on Instagram so we can see and share your creations!

Although Festival season currently on hold, that doesn't have to stop you from dreaming up the killer makeup looks you’ll be rocking once festivals are back in action, or looking for some makeup inspiration.

Whether you’re the creative type or not, there are some basics to rave makeup that apply no matter what you’re festival fashion is or where you’re going. Obviously, you’ll want your festival makeup to last all day and all night - after all, you’ll be dancing your festival face off at a music festival to EDM, but hopefully not literally - but you also want to make sure to protect your skin from the sun, dirt, sweat, and those seemingly inevitable post-festival breakouts with a great skin care routine. So, what’s a rave girl (or guy) to do when it comes to crafting the best rave makeup look for your summer shows? We’ve created the ultimate guide to rave makeup that will not only help you decide what to wear, but also explain how to make your look last all night.

The Essentials

Rave makeup ideas are all about color, pop, and sparkle, but underneath all that glitz and glam is what we like to call the essentials. These are the critical elements of any makeup look that go on before you start applying all the fun stuff. Start your rave makeup routine here with this makeup tutorial and makeup tips so you can look like you had a makeup artist before the big day.

1. Waterproof Sunscreen:

Raves aren’t just a nighttime affair, so if you’re hitting the festival grounds during the day time (and who isn’t?), make sure to load up with waterproof sunscreen first. Sunscreen, preferably with an SPF of at least 30, should be the first thing on your face and body, and waterproof and sweatproof formulas are definitely the way to go. Sunscreen needs to be the first layer on your skin so that it can absorb into your skin, protecting you from the sun’s damaging rays. After all, nothing kills a cute rave that looks quite like a sunburn, so make sure you protect your skin first and foremost.

2. Perfect Primer:

Whether you’re planning on a more natural look or you’re ready to really glam it up, the next step is to add the perfect makeup primer. There are tons of great options no matter what your budget, but we like color-correcting primers that help even out your skin tone. Your primer will be key to making sure your makeup doesn’t run, cake, or crease throughout the day, so don’t skip this important step! Next, we recommend applying a light dusting of translucent setting powder to your skin to set the primer in place. Follow it up with a few spritzes of your favorite setting spray, and now you’ve got the perfect canvas to work with! You might be wondering why you’re putting setting spray and setting powder on before your makeup, since it usually goes on after. While this isn’t necessary for everyday makeup like you’d wear to work or school, applying your setting products before your makeup helps to really even out your skin and make sure that your primer stays put all day.

3. The Right Coverage:

The next step will all depend on how much makeup you like to wear while you rave, and the answer might vary depending on whether you’re hitting a nighttime or daytime show. Some people opt for the full coverage offered by a foundation and concealer, while others prefer to go for the lighter coverage offered by a BB cream or tinted moisturizer. Regardless of which option you choose, make sure that you’re using a shade that matches your skin tone. We recommend hitting up your local beauty supply store and asking an associate to help you find the perfect foundation match if you haven’t figured yours out already. Then, blend like your life depends on it! If you’re using a concealer, don’t just dab it under your eyes and call it a day. You’ll get more of the light, lifted look you’re going for when you apply and blend concealer in a triangle shape that starts under your eye next to your nose, goes out to the corner of your face in line with your eye, and then connects to the bottom corner of your nose along the cheekbone.

4. Winged Eyeliner:

Look, we didn’t make the rules for rave eye makeup, but the reality is that thick winged eyeliner is the reigning champ when it comes to your eyes. Of course, you’ll want to use your eyeshadow palette for your eyeshadow, too, but that thick winged eyeliner is the real MVP. If you’re going the traditional route, you can opt for black, but choose a colored eyeliner like homegameauction’ Moon Glow Neon UV Eyeliner if you really want to stand out from the crowd.

5. Bake Your Powder: After you’ve applied all of your basics, apply the same translucent setting powder and let it “bake” into your face. After about 15 minutes, brush off any excess with a small makeup brush. This will keep your makeup looking matte all day, even if you’re sweating (and you will be).

6. Set it and Forget it: If you’re sticking to the basics, this is the time to apply that all-important setting spray to really make sure your makeup doesn’t move all night. If you’re planning to add some body glitter or other pieces like stickers, sequins, or body gems, you can hold off on applying setting spray until after you’re done. Either way, this is a step you don’t want to forget, because it can be the make-or-break difference between looking awesome in your pictures at 1 am or looking like a hot mess (literally).

    The Fun Stuff

You’ve got the essentials down, and now it’s time to glam it up! There are a ton of ways that you can make your rave makeup look your own. Here are just a few of our favorites.

    1. Glitter Glam:

Your festival go-to glam is most likely to be glitter and shimmer, so make sure you get something that is cosmetic grade. This is not the time to mess around with whatever you find in your mom’s arts and crafts closet! You can use glitter eyeshadow or body glitter For festival glitter we love this Lunautics Angel Aura Glitter, which you can apply with aloe vera gel, primer, vaseline, or glitter glue.

      iHeartLunautics Glitter

      2. Face and Body Gems:

Looking to add a little extra sparkle to your rave look? Try body and/or face gems! If you’re new to this trend, start out by using a simple look that accents your eyes and cheekbones, check out this set of Lunautics Success Jewels. They're made from high-quality rhinestones, and backed with hypoallergenic, long wear adhesive, so you don't have to worry about them falling off at night.

        3. Fabulous Falsies:

If you’re considering rocking fake eyelashes, why not go big? Companies sell everything from glitter lined eyelashes to those covered in rhinestones, so you can make an even bigger statement with those baby blues, browns, or greens! All you need is some eyelash glue and your favorite mascara to set it.

        4. Whimsical Nails:

Who says your face has to have all the fun? Killer nails are just one more way to spice up your look. It’s going to be hot this summer, so why not choose nails that echo the temps and your look? We love this set with unique flames on every nail!

        Nail art with fire flames

        Rave Nailz Hot Nailz

        5. Go Long:

Let’s face it - your hair is likely to be a frizzy mess by the end of the night, so it’s best to keep your hairstyle simple. The best part about hair extensions (besides the hot colors)? They don’t react to the heat and humidity, so you’ll look cool even when you’re hot. Always wanted neon blue hair? Now’s your chance without the commitment.

You can also style your hair with some rave braids and add in some trendy hair accessories, like these rhinestone clips!

        Don’t Forget

No matter what makeup you're wearing or how much of your body is covered with glitter makeup, there are a few things you don’t want to forget when it comes to crafting your festival season look.

        1. Stop the Shine:

You’re going to get sweaty, but that doesn’t have to ruin your look. Remember, you’re all out there in the same heat - the question is how you deal with it! Keep a stash of oil blotting sheets handy so you can soak up oily or sweaty patches throughout the day, and bring a little highlighter. Once you’ve blotted the excess moisture and added a little more pop to those cheekbones, you’ll be back to your gorgeous, glowy self in no time.

        2. Tailor Your Look:

Not every festival has the same vibe, so it doesn’t make sense to wear the same thing to every event. If you’re not sure exactly where to start, consider tailoring your look to the vibe of the festival. For example, if you’re heading to Coachella, you’ll probably want to aim for a boho-chic vibe. Whereas if you’re hitting up Ultra, bring out your inner raver babe street style!

        3. Be Yourself: You don’t have to look like everyone else in order to look amazing. The rave community is incredibly welcoming and accepting, and the most important thing is that you have a blast while you’re out there! Dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable and good about yourself, and the rest of the fun will follow. After all, the most beautiful rave babe is a confident and happy one!

We’re reaching the end of a decade, can you believe it? 2020 is just around the corner, and whether you’re spending New Year’s Eve at an event listening to the set you’ve been waiting for, or spending time with your best friends old and new, I’m here to show you how to easily put together an easy and totally doable look! Using some of my favorite products from iHeartraves!

How to create a new year's eve makeup look

Now this look couldn’t be any easier to be honest, which is great for those last minute parties and events. Or if you simply just can’t decide on a look you’re going for. This soft pink and pastel look with iridescent chunky glitter and an amazing set of face jewels from Lunautics. You can’t go wrong!

          New Year's Eve Glam Look

For starters, I threw on a white eyeshadow to my entire lid. You can get creative with which colors you decide to go for, just make sure that it’s lighter than the other shades you plan on using.

Next, taking a color of your choice, (I went for a nice pretty pink) go into both the inner and outer corners of your lid. Creating a halo effect of sorts, but sure to blend so there isn’t any harsh lines! Then, this is the fun part, I added chunky glitter to the middle of my lid and brought that down to under my eyes to the midpoints of my cheeks. And of course, the piece de resistance, face jewels from Lunautics and lashes!! These two really pull this look together, taking it to that next level glam that you want to bring into the New Year!

This was a year to remember no doubt. But with each passing year we always set new and better intentions than the last, hoping to create more wonderful memories than the last. As we reach the end of a decade, (which still blows my mind) remember to know your worth, treat people with kindness and care, and manifest those goals and dreams for the next year and make them a reality! And of course, this goes without saying, be safe this New Year’s Eve! Stay hydrated, make smart decisions, and look out for one another. Much love to you and yours, see you next year!

A couple of my favorite additions to my festival makeup looks definitely have to be face jewels and chunky glitter! You can never go wrong with some decorative sparkly face jewels, or even a bright and dazzling glitter all over. I created two separate festival makeup looks using these accessories that can help elevate your rave look!

The first look shows you how to make a smokey eye with gold chunky glitter, while the second is an elaborate rainbow cut crease with rainbow heart face jewels. For these looks I used the Lunautics glitter in “24kayy”, “Dark Night Star” and the Rainbow Heart Face Jewels!

One major tip that I have when using chunky glitter for your festival makeup is to layer your look with different types of glitter! I like to use a liquid glitter eyeshadow as a base. In the video, I used the Profusion Eye Sparkler on my eyelid before applying my glitter in order to add more dimension. This also helps the glitter catch the light from all angles, which is perfect for selfies during golden hour! You can even mix loose fine glitters with chunky glitters to add this effect as well!

Another helpful tip is to spice up your winged liner by adding chunky glitter to it! This is especially great when your eyeshadow is all matte. For the rainbow cut crease, I added the “Dark Night Star” glitter to my eyeliner using a glitter primer. By doing this, it’ll help you sparkle even when the sun goes down. Add a dramatic eyelash and you’re ready to go!

There are a lot of gorgeous photos out there of girls with their hair styled perfectly at festivals, but not all of us have the budget to hire someone or have super talented friends in our repertoire to do it for us. That’s why I decided to try and see if I can take on braids, one of this year’s biggest festival hair styles, and create this DIY for this festival hair trend.

I set goals every year to become better at something. These things range from personal growth to simply fun tasks. For 2019 one of my goals is to ‘get better at hair.’ I’ve found that when I have my hair done just after a fresh cut I feel so confident! But I’m never able to recreate the looks myself at home.

Part of this journey is, of course, perfecting my hair for festivals and raves. In the past few years, we’ve seen glitter roots, space buns, festival braids and rainbow hair. I’ve experimented in literally all of these styles and more.

There are lots of gorgeous photos out there of girls with their hair styled perfectly to these looks, but not all of us have the budget to hire someone or super talented friends in our repertoire to do it for us. That’s why I decided to try and see if I can take on braids, one of this year’s biggest festival hair styles, and handle it myself!

I’m hoping to have a whole series of ways you can style your own rainbow hair styles as I practice more, and find more simple styles to do!

My first piece is all about just creating one simple rainbow braid - not taking it too far, or making it too complicated.

Since I wasn’t sure exactly how to start the braid so that the top would look nice, I decided to part my hair super far over to add the braid almost like a hair wrap under a layer of hair. This way I was able to hide any messy beginnings of my style.

I took only a small piece of my styling hair, and looped it through a tiny hair rubber band so that it had two sides. I then looped the hair around a piece of my own hair just like any other pony holder.

I then simply braided the hair down until the end and tied it off with another rubber band. I clipped the edges to make them more even. If you have shorter hair, you can, of course, end your braid earlier and then clip the excess hair off.

I pushed my part over top of the braid to hid the messy top, then used a bobbi pin to clip it all back cutely. You could also use some prettier clips as well if you have them!

Voila! I had a simple fun addition to my hair.

Check out my DIY braids video below to learn how you can create your own festival braids, just in time to have awesome festival hair for 2019 festival season!

I got into wearing wigs to events because I’m pretty terrible at styling my hair. I can straighten it, and do some basic pigtails, but it always stresses me out. Wigs became a fun alternative for me and added so much fun to my looks. For me, I find wigs all over the place, online, in wig shops, and even Forever 21. Depending on how much you want to spend, of course, the quality goes up, but I’d say you can spend $20 on a decent wig if you’re looking in the right place.

I think the best place to find them is in your downtown area where there are likely to be some cheap shops - try looking for a wig shop specifically. You’ll find better quality ones for sure. The most I’ve ever spend is $60 for a wig, which yes was a lot, but the number of times I’ve worn it, it’s so worth it!

Let’s get into how I put my wig on, and some tips along the way.

How to Brush Your Hair Before Putting on a wig

I always start by washing my hair. I do this for a few reasons. First, It’s a heck of a lot easier to braid hair that is usually thick when it is wet. It also helps then keep all the little flyaways down, which I have a problem with, too.

I also do it because when I braid my hair and let it dry in braids, I get really cute crimps, which is an easy day 2 look for an event!

          French Braiding pigtails

Next, you start braiding one side. It took me a long time to learn to do braids, and even now I can only do them to myself and they are inside out! I used to watch my mom braid her hair (she could also not french braid anyone else’s!) and after watching a lot, I started trying to braid my own hair.

          Finishing French Braids on Pigtails

Braid the other side the same way. Practice doing braids whenever you can, and you’ll get better over time. Even now mine isn’t perfect, but especially for just going under a wig or for crimping my hair they are good enough! It helps to have a friend watch you as you braid to help direct if you’re missing any pieces as you go.

Turning French Braid Pigtails into a Crown

Next, I cross the braids in the back making like a crown on my head. Don’t lay the braids on top of each other, as that will make them super thick and your head larger, but lay them right next to each other. Then use bobby pins to pin them down. I usually do pins at the bottom where they cross, at the top to keep the ends down and then a few in between.

French Braid Crown Made out of French Braid Pigtails

I usually give my head a good shake to make sure nothing feels loose. It’s important to make sure these braids feel secure because if they don’t you’ll feel loose under your wig and won’t really have a way to fix it. So make sure you keep this nice and neat from the start.

How to Put on a Wig

I try and smooth my wig as much as I can before I put it on. I do any little brushing I need to before it is on. It’s really important to store your wigs nicely so you can wear them multiple times.

Also, some wigs have little adjustable sizes in the cap of the wig before you put it on. If you know what size you are, adjust before placing it on. Sometimes it's easier to test what size you need when your hair is down so you can take it on and off until you know exactly where it will need to be later.

Placing a Neon Blue Wig on Your Head

Then, starting from the back, put your wig on, placing the bulk of the braids on the back of your head into the wig. I usually have my hands inside the wig as much as I can to then pull the whole thing over the front of my face.

Use your fingers to tuck and push any pieces of hair that snuck out around the edges. I then always add a hat of some sort because it helps keep my wig on. You can also instead use bobby pins to pin it again into the braids, just be sure to lift some hair and then insert the pins so you can’t see them.

Since I have cheaper wigs, too, wearing a hat helps make it look more “real” by hiding the fake looking part. As I’ve gone through more and more wigs I’ve also learned that while wigs with bangs initially felt weird to me, they are the most natural looking because of the part. So I also try to get wigs with bangs now, which I can style to a side if I don’t like them in the middle, but it helps it look more real!

That’s about it! That’s how I put on my wigs. When you’re done wearing it for the night make sure to brush it out and pack it back properly for next time!

Neon makeup and holographic makeup looks have become increasingly popular in festival makeup scene. These trends can also be seen in many accessories, bottoms, and bodysuits! Both of these styles have become my absolute favorite, and it’s exciting to dress so colorful and stand out at a rave. However, after planning a festival outfit, the next important question is  “what kind of rave makeup could I wear to match such a bright and dramatic festival outfit?!” Although your outfit is one way to express yourself at a rave, you’re also able to show your true colors through your festival makeup as well! With festival makeup, you’re able to try out so many shapes and techniques, and also find so many ways to get creative with rave glitter. As a makeup artist, I am constantly seeing makeup inspiration. Because I also love attending festivals, I am constantly creating new rave makeup looks that are perfect for festival inspiration.

Since I have been a makeup artist for many years, I have a few tips on how to get your festival makeup looks to be as bright as possible and to last for the whole event. There are several different ways to add rave glitter to your face and eyes, depending on how long you’d like it to last. Although glitter primer (which can be found in your local drugstore or beauty store) is very effective, it won’t always hold if you have oily lids! Use eyelash glue (I recommend Duo Lash glue) in order to get a hold that will last throughout your night. Try using eyelash glue, or Lunautic Galatic Glitter Gel to hold festival face jewels, since they are slightly heavy and can slide off when you sweat.

One other tip to getting a bright festival makeup look is to pick a base that will make your neon eyeshadow pop! A thick, creamy concealer that is 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone will make the neon eyeshadow color stand out against your skin. In addition, blending out a white cream base on the lids before applying neon eyeshadow will not only make your eyeshadow last longer, but the colors will be a lot more intense and bright!

In this video below, I’ll be showing you step by step on how to create two separate rave makeup looks. The first one is neon eyes - featuring a green cut crease. The second look will be another neon make up look, featuring a glow-in-the-dark-purple cut crease.

This festival makeup tutorial was done using the Lunautics Neon Green Glitzy Glitter, and the Zenon UV Reactive Glitter combined with the Mixed Floral Face Gems. Both of these neon makeup looks are incredibly bright and unique, and will be sure to help you stand out at your next festival! For more makeup tutorials like these, be sure to check out my Youtube Channel or follow me on Instagram.

Note that you should ALWAYS be extremely cautious when applying glitter around your eyes.

Let’s face it, we’re all guilty of wanting to take fire photos at raves, but it isn’t as easy as it looks! Whether it’s a simple selfie or an epic squad pic, there are so many factors that go into it. You don’t always need a professional camera to do the job. Here are some of my tips on how to get the perfect festival photo with an iPhone.

First off, set yourself up for success by arriving early to the rave so you can catch the sun while it’s up. Natural light makes for the best photos (bonus points during golden hour, which is about 1 hour before sunset or sunrise), so allow yourself extra time when you get inside to treat yourself to a mini photo shoot.

          Cute Raver Girl at Coachella

If you can’t score any sunlight, utilize the camera flash so that the photo isn’t blurry or too dark- don’t worry about red eye, there are apps for that! If you decide not to use flash, the next best thing is to use the “enhance” button on iPhone editing (top right corner). This feature has the power to make all the difference and truly enhance the lighting.

Using iphone enhancement feature at a festival

Before and after iPhone enhancement feature

The festival grounds were made for us to take photos in front of! If you can, find an art structure, interactive installation, performer, or any cool spot to pose in front of. The most exciting photos are the ones that incorporate both the muse AND the festival’s unique backdrops.

If you’re having trouble finding a cool photo op spot, elevate your photo by werkin’ fierce poses! Don’t forget to take advantage of levels- both alone and with the whole squad. Hit the rave squat for a solo shot or help your squad create a dynamic group photo with levels. Whether it’s happy arms up in the air or a sexy booty shot, change up your poses every now and you will have yourself a dynamic photo collection by the end of the night.

          homegameauction Unicorns at Beyond Wonderland

Finally, you don’t need to have a professional photographer to shoot some fun angles! Encourage your paparazzi to change up shots with high, low, and tilted perspectives; the more you play around with angles, the closer you are to finding a cool shot.

Also, take advantage of any props you might have on/with you, such as fans, backpacks, and outfit elements. If you’re wearing a themed outfit, play off of it by incorporating in-character poses.

Raver Dressed up in cat themed outfit

Now here’s where the real fun begins! Whether you have an iphone or not, you can get creative by adding filters, stickers, and lenses to your post. There are so many photo enhancing apps out there, but here are my favorites:

VSCO: A popular editing app, VSCO features premium filters and intricate editing tools. Many of the built-in lenses will make your photo instantly ready to face the feed.

PicsArt: This inventive app provides more than just filters, collaging, red-eye fix, teeth whitening, and blemish removal. Take your photo to the next level by adding stickers, cutouts, text, brushes, borders, and masks. These effects can be used to add in everything from subtle enhancements to over-the-top works of art.

Enlight Pixaloop: Add motion to your photo with this quick and easy animation tool. Furry coats, liquids, wheels, skies, you name it! Anything can be animated and altered to the speed you choose.  Top it off with some overlays and filters and you’re good to go. Now, you can also use the final result as a live phone wallpaper!

Final tip: the iPhone camera tends to drain the battery, so be sure to bring a portable charger. homegameauction just released the cutest tech charging poms that are so fluffy, fun, and affordable!

          Steps for Creating Glitter Roots

The Glitter Roots hairstyle is both fun and easy! It's the perfect way to get your hair looking as fabulous as you are! Follow these 5 simple steps if you want to rock Glitter Roots at your next event.

          1. Prepare Adhesive
          2. Mix in Glitter
          3. Prepare Your Hair
          4. Apply the Glitter Roots Mixture
          5. Set Your Glitter Roots

          1. Prepare Adhesive

Pour a small amount of gel into your small bowl. Start off with about 1-2 tablespoons - with glitter roots, a little goes a long way and you can always prepare more later if needed.

          2. Mix in Glitter

Pour in the desired glitter to the bowl of gel and mix them together using a brush.

We recommend starting off with small amounts of glitter and mixing to check the consistency. If you want a more concentrated sparkle, add more glitter to the bowl and mix again.

          3. Prepare Your Hair

Part your hair how you would like it styled. We found that parting your hair with braids is the best for the Glitter Roots Look because your part won’t get ruined as you dance and jump through the night!

Purple Hair Parted to prepare for glitter roots

          4. Apply the Glitter Roots Mixture

Using your brush, apply the glitter mix to your root area. Start on the scalp and apply outward from the part about 1-2 inches. Continue this process until your entire part is covered.

Applying Glitter Roots to Purple Hair

          5. Set Your Glitter Roots

Now that you have applied the glitter mixture to your hair, you need to let it set! The most effective method for this is using a blow-dryer on the medium setting about 6-8 inches away from your scalp to dry the gel. To ensure your Glitter Roots hold all night long, you can also finish it with hairspray!

For more than five years, Vanessa Haro has been creating makeup magic behind-the-scenes at homegameauction' photoshoots. No matter what look we are trying to achieve, this talented Makeup Artist is able to turn our already gorgeous models from natural to glam, to ultimate rave sparkle queen. Aside from being insanely talented, she's also extremely witty and very fun to work with. I was so excited to be able to talk to her more about her career and history with homegameauction, makeup tips and more. Get to know Vanessa in her interview below:

How did you get started with makeup?

I've loved makeup since I was a little girl, it's something I've studied since I could read; I always had my head in a book or magazine, there are makeup facts that I read at age 10 that still pop up in my conversations today. I started playing with doing other people's makeup when I was in high school but didn't actively pursue it as a full-time career until 5-6 years ago. I went to makeup school to get my foot in the door with internships, met amazing people along the way (like homegameauction photographer, Gregorio Campos), and it's been my life since.

Would you consider being a MUA your dream job? Can you tell us a little backstory about how you achieved your current level of success?

It really is a dream job! I worked in the corporate world for about 7 years before I changed careers. Although I learned a lot in my corporate days, I hated being locked up inside, doing the same mundane things every day. I was self-taught but knew I needed to find my way to a set, so I attended makeup school. Right after graduating, the school owner took me with her to a magazine shoot and the rush was something I was immediately addicted to. I have never felt happier or more at home than I do when I am working. I did a lot of unpaid work for practice, to build my portfolio, and really learn the ropes. About a year in, I met Gregorio Campos and we clicked creatively right away. He and I would shoot a few days a week, and we started getting clients and branching out. I credit Greg with so much of my success because he never let me give up and he still helps me now, he's like my brother!

What’s your favorite part of your job?

Making people feel beautiful. I have the privilege of working with women and men from ages 3 to 90; no matter what age we are, we still need to feel loved and noticed. Sometimes, I get to work on grandmas at weddings that haven't felt pretty in many years, and seeing their eyes sparkle with happiness when they're glammed up makes my heart so full!

Soft glam and glitter highlight on @love.you_em

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Recently, is having to explain to everyday women that many of the photos they are comparing themselves to on Instagram or Pinterest are heavily edited and photoshopped. I get to work on all kinds of people, and the most beautiful ones in my eyes are the people that are genuinely happy and at peace with themselves. I wish more women would embrace that they are perfect in their own skin, that freckles and lines are a part of what makes them shine, that pores are meant to exist! I think because I get to be so close to so many people, I find magic and beauty in the little things that make us unique.

How/when did you begin working for homegameauction?

Gregorio Campos had me do makeup for a shoot with INTO THE AM (homegameauction' sister brand), which lead to us meeting CK, the Merchandise Manager, for both brands :), they've become like family since then!

What’s been your favorite homegameauction look that you created?

There are too many to list here! I love that I get to color outside of the lines on set with homegameauction!

Purple Sequin Halter Top and Festival Jewels and Faux Ring Choker

Can you give us a few festival makeup tips for making your makeup/jewels stay on all night?

Spirit gum is your best friend, it has a great hold for jewels. Ben Nye Final seal setting spray is amazing.

Do you have any go-to products for doing festival makeup?

I try to use waterproof eyeliners and mascaras; my favorite liners are by Marc Jacobs (they don't budge!) and Lash Paradise Mascara from Loreal. Glitter is also a must, along with good glue. Note on glitter: if you are using it on your eyes, make sure it is marked as safe for eye use. Glitters that are too big, with corners, will cut up your eyeball and make for a very glitter-less few months after.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I started asking for makeup at age 2, haha. I'm also bilingual and a total bookworm speed reader.

If you could attend any music festival in the world, what would it be?

Probably EDC with the homegameauction family.

What's been your favorite rave-fashion trend that you've seen over the years?

The newest bodysuits from homegameauction that have off the shoulder tops and long flowing sleeves.

Do you have any advice for other girls and boys seeking to become MUA?

Work hard, be kind, be honest, and be humble. It takes some time to get there, but if you stay consistent and connect with good people, you'll be fine. You have to have patience and ALWAYS remain a student, the second you think you know everything, you're out. Know your worth and stand up for yourself :)

It’s hard to believe that we are entering festival season! In addition to warmth and sunshine, there are a variety of huge events that take place during these heated months such as EDC, HARD Summer, Electric Forest, Electric Zoo, Paradiso, and so many others. Picking out your outfits is only half the excitement when it comes to festival fashion. There’s a whole world out there when it comes to creating fun festival hair looks. Are you bored of styling your hair as you would in the non-rave world? Check out these 4 hairstyles you need for Summer Festivals below!

          1. Boujie braids

Braids have always been a go-to hairstyle for a number of reasons. First of all, they keep your hair out of your face so you can dance and headbang freely! Second, they help cool down your body (a lifesaver at places like EDC). Third, they don’t require any sort of hot tools and are a great option if you attend any camping events. Something that I’m loving so far in this festival season is the integration of colorful braids! It seems like this trend has already begun to make its debut this year. I would love to see more of this look at a vibrant place like EDC!

For shorter hair, two tiny rows of braids make a big statement! (Haley Busch Photography)

          2. Space Buns

Space buns are a great option if you are limited on time and want to try something that’s a little out of this world. There are a ton of variations such as the "Princess Leia" type of look or creating mini space buns for a half up half down sort of style.

Repitilia Sequined Cropped Top festival face jewels

Classic space buns with braids mixed in! (Haley Busch Photography)

          3. Sparkly Strands

I feel like glitter will never go out of style. Don’t just limit yourself to sprinkling fairy dust on your face! Instantly add visual interest to your strands with a variety of cosmetic glitter options. To start, mix half a cup of glitter of your choice and half a cup of hair gel in a small bowl. Next, dip a small fan brush in the concoction and paint your hair however you please!

          4. Adding Accessories

Personally, my go-to hairstyle is always adding a fun hairpiece of some sort! The options are nearly endless when it comes to accessories.

Black and Silver Glitzy Cat Ears

Add a little glitz with these cute cat ears.

When it comes to festival fashion, there’s one trend that only seems to be getting bigger and more unique: glitter & bedazzlements. What used to just be loose glitter placed under the eye or on the hair has turned into face gems, boob jewels, and even rhinestones to go around your belly button. We sat down with Claudia, the founder of Lunautics, one of the biggest brands in the game, to find out how she went from having a corporate 9-5 job to starting her own glitter company.

Can you remember the first time you applied glitter on yourself?

I’ve been adding sparkle to my life since my parents first allowed me to wear makeup! But, the first time I ever got gLIT for a rave was EDC 2013. That was only my second rave ever and I made my own rave bras to wear to the fest.

I used glitter in all of my outfits, and it was this experience of dressing up for the first time that made me love the individuality celebrated within rave fashion.

What inspired you to make your own glitter?

I wanted to wear glitter roots to Beyond Wonderland and was hoping to find glitter with stars in it, but couldn’t find anything on the market. I ended up settling for fine glitter and glued rhinestones into my hair instead.

Nearly six months later, I was preparing my outfits for Nocturnal and still had the itch to wear chunky glitter with stars in it. Alas, it was nowhere to be found so I decided to try making it myself! I was already hand-making face gems for myself and needed something extra to top off the look. Being extra is always the goal, so I did some research, ordered samples from some cosmetic pigment suppliers, and started mixing away!

I told some of my friends about my new idea, and luckily, they were vending at Nocturnal Wonderland and invited me to join them! Lunautics launched at Nocturnal Wonderland 2016 three weeks later where we did free glitter makeovers and sold the first 50 units of glitter. It turns out that I wasn’t the only one looking for quality glitters and we haven’t slowed down since.

How did Lunautics get involved with homegameauction?

We were at Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas a few weeks after Lunautics launched and I gave them each a small container of glitter that weekend. I was so excited about my new idea that I just had to share! I am so lucky to call Amanda aka Mama Unicorn and Kelcey aka Tiny Dancer personal friends of mine. They have truly supported me and encouraged me on this sparkly journey!

They must have liked it because Amanda asked me to consider letting homegameauction carry it a few weeks later. I was shocked and honestly scared to work with such a well-known company, so I declined. Actually, I declined a few times, mostly because I did not think I could do it!

But with Amanda and Kelcey’s encouragement and persistence, I gained enough confidence to give it a try. And I am so thankful to them for believing in me and my brand, even when I wasn’t ready to yet. My partnership with homegameauction has been a dream come true, and I love getting to be involved with a brand that encourages unapologetic self-expression!

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live?

I am originally from the Philippines and if I could live anywhere in the world besides Los Angeles it would be at home in Makati with my cousins and family. I am so fortunate to have cousins who are more like siblings, and it has always been a dream of mine to be close to them again.

What was your first festival or rave?

My first festival was Beyond Wonderland Bay Area 2012. I was in love with the culture from my very first experience and honestly regretted that I had not found the community sooner in my life! I thought at 26, I was already too old to rave, but here I am 6 years later still going strong, with many years left to go.

What does the rave community mean to you?

Our community of ravers means so much to me. I was a very different person before I found raves, I grew up very sheltered and with strict expectations of me. It’s cheesy but I believe I have truly found a place where I can be me, free of judgment, and it has allowed me to create a life for myself that I could never have imagined.

How do you come up with the designs for your face gems and boob jewels?

I like to look at the trends of what’s happening in festival and rave fashion and identify what areas of the body are left exposed so they can get gLIT. For example, last year underboob tops and cutouts were huge so I created Lunautics underboob jewels to accentuate the under the bust area.

Sometimes when I am designing new glitter color or face gem it is easier to work backward. I recently had the opportunity to collab with homegameauction to create a iHeartLunautics Line to compliment the Electric Love Collection! I got to go into their headquarters and meet with the buyers to view the collection months before its release, then I went home and drew up face gems, body gems and so much more to match. It was easy to design this new collab because I had all their amazing products to use as inspo! For example, we created a third eye face gem to match one of their seamless face masks, and daisy pasties to match their daisy print mesh tops! We even created a unicorn shaped glitter so that everybody can wear it and feel like they are part of the Unicorn Crew.

What were you doing before Lunautics? What is your career background?

I have been in the fashion industry since I was in high school. My first job was dressing mannequins at a local department store and then I went on to be a buyer and later a store manager for two different boutiques. It was those experiences that helped me decide to pursue a degree in fashion, which I later completed at FIDM.

After college, I wanted to get into the luxury market so I interned with Louis Vuitton. I then later went on to work for two luxury department stores in a variety of roles. Most recently, I was an executive sales manager which was a job I loved. It made it very difficult for me to leave my previous career behind to pursue the growth and expansion of Lunautics.

So, I know you are doing Lunautics full time now. How does that feel?

It is exciting and scary! For the last year and a half, I worked my full-time job, and did Lunautics in any other spare time I had left in the day! I often worked 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, so I am still adjusting to a more regular schedule. I feel guilty whenever I am not working!

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I used to make every single glitter myself, but had to consider moving to a manufacturing process when Lunautics started to take off. When it came time for Lunautics to scale up and grow beyond just me, it was important to me that our products are made ethically and benefit my local community in some way.

We now partner with Goodwill of Southern California to provide work opportunities to individuals with learning disabilities. This program gives participants on-site training and career counseling. The individuals who are employed through this job training program manufacture all of our Moon Dust glitters and prep the rest of our products for shipment. The program was designed by Goodwill to help people learn the necessary skills and behaviors to retain employment so they can live financially independent lives.

I spend at least a few days a week with the team at Goodwill in the factory located here in Los Angeles, and getting to know the people and working alongside them is definitely the most rewarding way I spend my time.

What does the future hold for Lunautics?

Every day is a new adventure full of possibilities! Right now, I am taking one day at a time, and focusing on being the best at what we do by providing high-quality products. We are introducing new items that complement our current assortment, like glitter glues and offering our eco-conscious customer new plant-based biodegradable glitter options as well.

The most exciting thing for the future of Lunautics is growing our team! We just recently hired a part-time graphic designer and a communications manager and with their help and ideas, Lunautics is continuing to grow. We are also beginning to hire and train a team of makeup artists who we will use for our makeover events! We have five amazing new glitter artists joining us in Vegas at the Luxor, and that event is going to be killer!

I truly believe in hiring people who are better than you, and I can’t wait to expand further and bring talented people with fresh ideas on board.

Our next big event will be the beauty bar at the Lux Rave store in Las Vegas! We are partnering with homegameauction to bring our makeup artists to the Luxor to help everybody get gLIT for EDC weekend! Catch the Lunautics team from 12:00pm-3 at Lux Rave to get your glitter and face gems done by the Glitter Gang!

We will also be partnering with Insomniac to offer a luxe glitter bar inside of the artist lounge at EDC Las Vegas! So, if you are one of the lucky ones with backstage passes, roll through and get gLIT

I wouldn’t call myself a glitter expert, but I've been putting glitter on long enough to know a thing or two about how to style it. Once glitter was introduced into the world of raving, I was immediately hooked! When I started adding glitter to my makeup routine for events, my friends started asking me: how do you do that?! To inspire and help others with their glitter needs, I’ve come up with one look that will have you feeling pretty fabulous! In this festival makeup tutorial, I will be styling Lunautics, Angel Aura and 24Kayyy with Gypsy Shrine face gems to create a Pretty in Pink Princess look!

          Lunautics Glitter

Step 1: Put on your base makeup. Trust me, it would be a pain to try to put on any sort of makeup if you’ve put on your rave accessories first. I just use concealer, foundation, eyeliner, and a brow pomade for my everyday look.

          Festival Makeup Glitter Tutorial

Step 2: Glue on your gems. Even though all of the Lunautics, Gypsy Shrine, or any other face gem brand have adhesives, I also HIGHLY recommend using eyelash glue to add extra support to your gems. If you're going to be actively dancing (or headbanging) all night, you might be at risk of losing a gem - and just one small gem can be crucial to your look! (Note: any brand of eyelash glue will work!)

Festival Makeup Glitter Tutorial Step 2

Step 3: Place glitter primer on the area you want to put glitter on. I personally use E.L.F Glitter Primer to put on my glitter, I absolutely love it and my glitter hardly budges! I usually use my fingers to place the primer on, but since I'm only putting glitter on small areas I used a small makeup brush.

Festival Makeup Glitter Tutorial Step 3

Step 4: Put on glitter to the spots you put glitter primer. For this look, I placed Angel Aura directly around the gems while I outlined it with a little bit of 24Kayyy to give it a little pop!

Festival Makeup Glitter Tutorial Step 4

Step 5: Spray setting spray over your masterpiece and you’re all done! For setting spray, I use Urban Decay because it holds my makeup throughout the entire event without glitter coming off.

Festival Makeup Glitter Tutorial Step 5

Step 6 (optional): Add a flower crown! If you don’t think glitter is enough, add some accessories to make your look even more fabulous! You can’t go wrong with a flower crown or even flower cat ears, they just make you feel even more majestic! Check out homegameauction' blog post for steps on how to DIY a flower crown!

I hope you all learned a thing or two about some of your glitter needs and maybe I’ll see some of you with this inspired look at an event!

For anyone that doesn’t personally know me, my boyfriend and I always dress up as the sun and moon at any event where Above and Beyond is playing. I’m always looking for new makeup ideas since I try to make every rave outfit unique and I was inspired by The Gypsy Shrine’s moon face glitter. I decided to give it a test run on myself and share with my reader’s my version of the glittery moon. In this tutorial, I’ll be using Lunautics Mermaid Tears and Lunautics Moon Dust XL Disco Dreams glitter styled with some homegameauction accessories to create a Moon Kitty festival look!

Step 1: Put on your base makeup. I only use eyeliner, foundation, concealer, and eyebrow makeup for my everyday look, so I’m pretty much halfway done from there!

Festival Glitter Tutorial - Before Look

Step 2: Use a glitter liner to create the outline of the moon. You can really use anything you feel comfortable using for this. An optional step is filling it in with blue colored eyeshadow. You don’t have to do this step, but I did it because it helps fill in the blank space, creates more color, and I don’t have to finish my whole container of glitter in one sitting! I am absolutely in love with Colourpop’s Super Shock Shadows, they’re so vibrant and bold!

Step 3: Put on your glitter primer and use finger (or makeup brush) to place glitter inside moon. Put on as much glitter as your heart desires! I covered most of the moon, but you’re still able to see the blue eyeshadow behind it.

Step 4: Add whatever lipstick you feel comfortable with. I am using the Kat Von D's Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick ‘Poe’ and layered the Kat Von D Everlasting Glimmer Veil Liquid Lipstick in aquamarine with a little bit of glitter in the middle of my lips! I absolutely love the sparkly iridescent look!

Step 5: Add Your Festival Jewels and More Glitter! For this festival look, I used GypsyShrine’s All in One Body Jewel and add Lunautics Moon Dust XL Disco Dreams Face Glitter glitter. All of these items can be found on the homegameauction website

Step 6: Accessorize your look! I recommend the homegameauction Flower Kitty Ears! Now you’re ready to go out looking fabulous! But don’t forget to set your makeup with setting spray; I stand by Urban Decay’s Setting Spray, my makeup holds for an entire music festival and I never have to reapply any makeup.

I’m someone who 90% of the time is wearing false lashes at events, and constantly wishing I had the patience to put them on every single day. I love the look of full lashes and I haven’t found a mascara to do it for me. I’m also a little afraid of eyelash extensions, so I’ve avoided looking into those too much.

Therefore, magnetic false lashes seemed like a great idea, so I decided to try them out for all of you and here are the results!

Somewhere along the dark hours of my internet life, an ad for “revolutionary” magnetic false lashes appeared.... with a price tag of $70 and a 4 week wait list.

Therefore, magnetic false lashes seemed like a great idea. So, after lots of debating, bank account checking, and review reading, I ordered the Original Lash set from One Two Lash.

lash set from one two lash

Above: The Original Lash set with a little wear.

I waited forever for my lashes to arrive (which I knew was going to happen because of the wait list situation) and when I finally got them I was so excited. The box comes with a little compact with two sets of lashes (not to be worn at the same time).

I saw videos of people applying them with tweezers but I’m not that meticulous of a gal so I just went ahead with my fingers to put them on. I wear contacts, so I think this helps with the ease and precision at which I can bring my fingers toward my eye.

“Using our patent pending micro-magnetic technology, One Two Lash® sandwiches your natural lashes between two ultra-lightweight fiber strips to create a bold, dramatic lash line in seconds.”

When applying my lashes, there were instructions, but I definitely could have used some clarity on the application process, so here it is for you.

There are two lash pieces you use to attach to your natural lashes on the outer edges only. I would apply my own mascara first always. This is because you need to fill the space from where the false lashes are to blend with your natural lashes. The lashes have a magnet only in the center of the piece. The lashes are curved, so they follow your eyeliner well, but not perfectly. If you’re in this for perfection, cancel your order.

Above: Me without One Two Lash lashes, and with One Two Lash Lashes. You can see they do make my lashes look more full and wing out.

So after letting my mascara dry, I’d get my lashes on. One of the lashes always has a red dot on the magnet, this is for the under part, and the other one is for the top part. You can also tell by where the magnet is attached to the false lash. The magnets should always face each other when applying.

First you place the top lash toward the outer edge of your eye, on top of your lashes. I think most eyeliner has a little bit of magnetic powers because I could feel a gentle pull from my false lashes toward my eyelid. Then, carefully, you take the bottom lash and place it under your natural lashes.

The magnet is really strong, and it’s very easy to have the top magnet pulled forward away from your eyeliner when trying to place the bottom set of lashes. I found that to combat this I would go in magnet first with the lashes perpendicular to my natural lashes to clip the magnet, then flip them up when first applying. Later, I would just go in toward my eye and only pop up to meet the magnet at the last second. If you didn’t, the lashes would connect away from your eyeliner and you’d have to go again.

There were some times when putting them on that I would have to take them off and start all over, but it wasn’t like I was using glue so it wasn’t that annoying. I also got better as time went on.

I had some good and bad days with these lashes. I hoped to wear them every day, and I did, for a while until they wore out. They slowly got flatter and had some random lashes popping all over the place like a hot mess. You can see a little bit of this in the photo below.

With there being two sets, I thought I would have two sets to work through when one set wore out, but each piece was made so differently, that I had to kind of create my own one set with the two sets. I tried to message the One Two Lash team on Instagram about this but never heard back. It was a shame because the one pair I matched was amazing, but then the leftovers were just a wasted pair.

As they started to wear out, I got an email from Groupon for Magnetic Lashes. Alas! I was saved! Turns out, these were a different no-name brand making them and selling sets for $12. I had really liked my One Two Lash set, while they lasted, but I really was upset at the giving out on me so fast at the price they were. After failed attempts to contact their team about issues I had with One Two Lash sets early on, I decided $12 was worth the dough to get a new pair.

used magnetic lashes compared to lightly used

Above: the Groupon set (left) and the well worn One Two Lash set (right).

These arrived and sucked. Totally sucked. The magnet was weak and barely attached to the false lash. I think that with a little super glue I might be able to make this better myself, but still the magnet is weak. The quality of the lash is also poor, but hey, I took a gamble, all in the name of research too. I didn’t want to give you guys a review without testing some other options out there. I think they were also too long for their use, so they popped up a lot more than the One Two Lash set on the outer edges when worn.

customer selfie with magnetic lashes onAbove: Pair from Groupon. They definitely looked thicker, but the edges popped up too high as you can see in the middle of my eyes.

          So how do I feel?

PROS: I liked my magnetic lashes, and someday, when I have more money I’ll probably try to get a new One Two Lash set and go back to wearing them every day. They were so easy to put on and I really loved how pretty they looked. They also hold super well, I wore them on a windy boat once and they held in place.

CONS: They aren’t perfect. Corners pop up and you need eyeliner to fill in the space. A set isn’t exactly made equally either, with magnets not centered and some lashes being longer than others or popping up at a different angle making them unusable. Also, when they fall apart, damn do they fall. It ain’t pretty. They’re super expensive but hopefully costs will go down as they become more popular.
