Decadence, one of the world's biggest New Year's Eve music festivals, returns to Denver, Colorado, on December 30 and 31 to celebrate the arrival of 2023. Decadence has been blasting beats since 2012 and has since grown into one of the largest New Years' celebrations worldwide. The two-day festival hosted by Global Dance is held at the Colorado Convention Center in Downtown Denver. Doors open to ticket holders at 6:30 pm both nights and the venue is open for ravers to dance to their heart's content until 3:00 am.

This year’s lineup for Decadence blew away my expectations as it contains a wide variety of EDM genres and has some of the biggest names in the industry, headlining the event. Artists like Chris Lake and Porter Robinson will bring a blast of euphoric house to make everyone groove and smile, while artists Zeds Dead and Zomboy will hypnotize fans into a bass-filled trance, while Big Wild and Griz will bring the groove. Check out the lineup below:

Aside from a plethora of exquisite live music sets, Decadence also includes other activities to fill your New Years with joy. The 18+ festival has bars available for those who are 21 and up throughout the venue. The highly requested return of the silent disco has also been implemented and festival-goers will have the option to put on headphones and jam out with their friends to a station of their choice.  Beautiful interactive art exhibits and colorful lights have been a super cool part of Decadence in the past as well, as there is always something new to explore throughout the venue.

Raves and music festivals are my favorite things in the world because I get to meet countless beautiful people, create new connections with friends, and make memories that will last a lifetime. New Year’s is also something that I thoroughly enjoy, as it is a time to be with people you love and celebrate a new beginning of positivity. Combining these wonderful events in my life into one celebration at Decadence is thrilling and I can not wait to hit the dance floor with everyone’s happy faces. If you do not have any New Year’s plans and would like to join me in spreading PLUR into 2023, Decadance still has single and two-day passes available. VIP tickets are also available and include separate and quicker entrances to the festival, elevated decks for viewing, as well as lounges and private bars throughout the venue. Get tickets here.

Decadence is going to be COLD. Luckily, there are some brand new warm pieces to shop from at homegameauction. I recommend a jacket, joggers or long chaps to keep you warm in the cold weather but still able to hit the dancefloor and heat things up without overdoing it.

The return of music festivals after the pandemic has been beautiful, and seeing people reconnect with the music they love makes me so happy. I am so excited to be back at Decadence and I hope everyone has a happy holiday season and a safe New Year's whether you are at Decadence or watching the ball drop from home.

HARD Summer Music Festival, hosted by Insomniac Events, took place this past weekend on July 31- August 1, 2021. It was a much-needed festival and left me with a broken neck and happy heart, figuratively speaking.

HARD Summer took place at San Bernadino’s National Orange Event Center in the heat of the California desert. It's a far drive for anyone that doesn't live in the area, but that did not stop over 100,000 people from raging to their favorite electronic and rap artists. With headliners like Rezz, Future, Kayzo, DJ Snake, Malaa, and many other talented artists, HARD Summer gave off immaculate vibes for a wide variety of music tastes. I was able shuffle and speed dance at Bijou’s set, then run over  to vibe out and bounce around at Blunts and Blondes wobbly set, sing along to my favorite hits by Future, then break my neck and mosh at Kayzo’s closing set. It was so fun to be able to experience all of these different vibes in one festival experience.

The festival ran from 2pm to midnight each day and had a super cool layout for all of us ravers to explore. HARD Summer had five different stages, Hard, Harder, Pink, Green, and Purple, which each had a special environment set up for it. The Hard and Harder stages were where the main headliners performed, and they had impeccable setups with fireworks, pyrotechnics, and beautiful visuals broadcasted onto gigantic screens. The Green stage was one of my favorite places to watch performers throughout the weekend, as you had to walk up stairs then enter down into a raceway to reach a stage that was decorated with illuminating green lights. The Purple and Pink stages were also quite fun. The Purple stage showcased one of my favorite visual setups of the event during Don Tolivers set, as glowing inflatable mushrooms swayed on stage with hypnotizing patterns in the back.

HARD Summer also had a number of other installations and vending options to explore. Options included vegan food trucks, tents of aquas frescas, taco shops and chicken tender stands, along with bars and water stations on every corner. These options were among many other choices which provided options for any type of appetite or diet that a festival-goer would want to follow. In the middle of the food vending options and stages there was ferris wheel for people to ride and enjoy the view of the entire festival. Next to the ferris wheel was a cute little pond with a giant inflated flamingo, which made an appearance in the back of many attendees photos.

Exploring the NOS Event center and the grounds of HARD Summer was one of my favorite parts of the weekend, as there was always something new to find and kind people to meet at every spot. It was wonderful to be back with everyone's smiling faces and I was able to talk to lots of really cool ravers from all around the globe. We all came together to listen to our favorite music and be together after a long and stressful time away. Hopefully HARD Summer is just the beginning of this return to festival season, and I will get to continue to rage with you all from event to event the rest of this year!

Drive-In raves have begun to pop up all across the United States as COVID-19 has kept us away from our usual festival experience. I have been fortunate enough to attend two drive-in raves, and have gathered some tips from the time I’ve spent parked alongside hundreds of other ravers for you to consider as you plan for your next drive-in event!

1. SET UP YOUR SPACE

As you arrive at a drive-in rave, each car is given a parking spot around 20x20 feet to use as a dance floor and hangout area that you are encouraged to decorate. Lawn chairs, cup pong tables, blow up kiddie pools, corn hole, and even a full size couch, are just a couple cool things I’ve seen people use to occupy their parking spaces.  Another cute thing you could do with your space is to give it a theme! Whether you decorate your spot with tikis and leis for a Luau theme, or bring a couple blow up aliens and lasers for a space theme, be creative with your spot to make it feel even more like your favorite festival! Each parking spot is also given a small rail to separate each spot, but it can also be used towards your decoration by putting lights or streamers around it, as well as something to headbang over!

2. SNACK UP AND HYDRATE

One thing that is cool about drive-in raves as opposed to normal festivals is that you can bring your own food and drinks! I recommend bringing a cooler as you have plenty of room to store all your food and drinks, as well as snacks that’ll give you energy throughout the night if you get hungry! I’ve heard from lots of people they’ve loved being able to bring their own beverages, so stock up on drinks you want, dance the night away, and be sure to not drink and drive!

3. FLOW

Drive-in raves are also a great time to practice your flow arts because you have lots of room to try out new moves. Whether you glove for your friends in your passenger seat, or hoop or whip in your space, you can still give light shows from across your space while you flow to your favorite songs!

4. PLAN YOUR OUTFITS

Although we haven't been able to glam up for festival season this year, a drive-in rave is a perfect time to shop for a new outfit and coordinate some fire looks with your squad again!

5. WEAR YOUR MASKS

Social distancing is heavily enforced at drive-in events, but be sure to wear a mask when you’re outside your car and stay safe! Now is a time to show off all your cool new masks and match them to your festival outfits!

Shop Face masks

As much as I miss going to normal shows and festivals, I’m so appreciative of what the EDM community has done to find a way to still provide us with a way to watch our favorite artists. Drive-in raves may not necessarily be ideal, but I had an amazing experience at both shows I went to and recommend going to one if you get the opportunity. Finding the tiny, beautiful moments in life right now is a way to stay positive during all the chaos that is going on, so if that means singing along to a song from your car or your couch, do it! I hope some of this info will help you all prepare for your next drive-in rave! Stay safe and spread PLUR!

Live music is one of my favorite things in the world. Hearing your favorite artists play a set while dancing with your friends under flashing lights and watching hundreds of other people do the same thing is one of the most beautiful feelings one can experience. While many of us have become accustomed to doing this every weekend or going to every local show or festival, COVID-19 has kept us, ravers, away from enjoying what we love most. It has become quite disheartening to watch the cancellations of countless festivals, and with the recent droppings of  Coachella, Bass Canyon, and Lost Lands, and it starting to look hopeless for the 2020 festival season to return. With all the negativity going on around the world, it can be difficult to find the positives in the situation we have been put in. Here are a few things you can do to hopefully make this time a little more bearable and bring some positivity into your life!

LISTEN TO MUSIC

Since music is one of the things we love the most, now is a great time to explore all of the music you already know and love, but as well as find new artists and sounds. I have found that both Spotify and Soundcloud are super helpful for finding new music as you can make a radio station from a song you already enjoy and they will bring up similar music that you will hopefully like. You can also follow homegameauction on Spotify if you wanna look through some playlists for new music! I have recently also been making lots of playlists as I find it super relaxing to go through all the songs I have and putting them into categories for my moods or different activities. Music is also proven to help release dopamine as well as reduce heart rate and anxiety, so for those of you who are feeling down or stressed right now, put those headphones in and get listening.

MEDITATE

I have found meditation and mindfulness very helpful tools to staying positive during COVID. For a lot of people meditating is difficult, but once you start getting into it, it gets a lot easier. Clearing your mind is not as easy as it seems, so one way I practice meditating is by just focusing on the inhale and exhale of my breath. When I first began practicing meditation, I was pretty uncomfortable because it’s hard for me to sit still and be quiet, so I started wearing my pashmina and sitting on my bed to make myself feel more comfortable, so definitely find a way to make yourself feel at peace whether that means you surround yourself with pillows and blankets, put headphones in, or sit outdoors.

LEARN AND BE CREATIVE!

At the beginning of my time social distancing, I was feeling super down, mostly because I felt my time was being wasted and I was bored. I quickly realized that with all of the extra time that quarantining gave me, I could be productive by educating myself and trying new hobbies and I quickly began to feel better.

Some things I found interest in that you guys might like are painting, dancing, reading, writing, and making music. There are endless topics to read and expand your knowledge on during this time so find something that you are passionate about and learn!

trippy painting

Painting is also something I have been doing that has made my mood better. Creating something is a nice feeling so I recommend trying out some art, even if it's just scribbling with some crayons, art can be a good way to get out all of the built up emotions you have. You can also create things while you listen to your favorite music - whether you paint to Svdden Death or draw to Deorro or bring out your old kandi beads, find something that makes you feel good. Looking for a new rave hobby? Take this quiz to find the perfect rave hobby for you!

EXERCISE

Exercise helps create dopamine and other endorphins that help make you happy, so if you have been stuck in your bed feeling during COVID, try to get up and start moving. I know not all types of exercise work for everyone, but there are so many different kinds, so hopefully you can find one that works for you! Running, swimming, hiking, walking, biking, lifting weights, stretching and yoga, are just a few examples you can try.

I also have been watching countless youtube videos on how to shuffle and dance and it has been really fun and really satisfying to watch myself get better and better! Dancing also helps release endorphins that make you happier, and I know you guys all miss hitting the dance floor.

We also never know when festival season is going to come back around, so let’s get in shape in hope that it comes around soon. If you're looking for some ways to integrate the dance floor into your workout, try these ideas for EDM fitness workouts.

Although these times are hard on all of us, all we can do is make the best out of the situation we are in. We all miss raving lots, but hopefully we will be able to return to live music soon, and in the meantime attend a Drive-in rave if you have the opportunity! Creating a routine or doing activities that make you smile are what we need to do to remain positive at this time. Just remember things will get better, be kind, and spread love, especially in a time of so much hate. Stay healthy and happy out there and remember to wear a mask!

While coronavirus has left us without festivals for months and to rave from our homes, Relentless Beats provided us with a revolution for our need to rave, and I was lucky enough to attend the first-ever Drive- In rave in North America this past weekend. When getting ready for Road Rave, I wasn’t sure what to expect: one of the best parts of going to festivals is meeting new people and I wasn’t sure what a rave under social distancing guidelines would be like. Luckily, my rave experience was equally as fun as a normal festival and I’m so happy I got to experience such a historical moment in the EDM community!

Road Rave took place Friday, May 29th and Saturday, May 30th at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Phoenix, Arizona. I attended the Saturday show in which I was greeted with a beautiful pink sky on the horizon. Relentless Beats separated the parking into a back, middle, and front lot in which I had parking in the front. Each parking spot was separated by rails and had an area for each car to set up chairs, corn hole, lights, lasers, inflatable pools, and anything you could imagine to put in a camp!

The show opened with Paz and the energy of the crowd was immediately high even though it was slightly stormy outside. Everyone was out of their cars and singing and dancing with their friends and it was really beautiful to watch. People used their parking spots as dance floors and as a place to practice flow arts, as well as using their parking rails to head bang. Carnage closed out the show with some headbangers as well as a tribute to George Floyd and a powerful moment of silence.

There was high energy throughout the whole venue during each set and it was so cool to watch people enjoying time with loved ones and their favorite music in a time of so much chaos within the world. Road Rave was definitely not a typical rave experience but it was one hundred percent what the EDM community needed during this time and still helped bring people together.

Overall, I enjoyed the setup of Road Rave more than I expected as it allowed me to have all the room in the world to dance and also have conversations more easily with my friends. If you get the opportunity to go to a social distancing rave soon I one hundred percent recommend you go! Right now is a time to spread PLUR energy as the world needs love. Sending good health and positive vibes!

As the EDM community has been in a drought of live shows because of social distancing standards, a group of DJs and festival creators have brainstormed to create drive-in raves across the country to provide us with a way to enjoy the music and culture we love in a safe way. Road Rave, presented by Relentless Beats out of Arizona, is the first drive in rave to hit the west coast. Road Rave is changing the face of the rave scene during these times, and I’ve gathered some general information on the festival so you can prepare to headbang over your steering wheel and have all the facts on the up and coming show!

Here's everything you need to know about Road Rave Arizona:

When is Road Rave Arizona?

Road Rave will be held on Friday, May 29th & Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 7-11pm. Although the event was originally only scheduled for one night, after selling out the Saturday show, Relentless beats added a second night on Friday May 29th!

What is the Road Rave Arizona Lineup?

Headlining Road Rave is Carnage, who will bring a wide variety of EDM with dubstep, trap, and hip hop incorporations, and will put on a killer show. Hulk Gang, SAYMYNAME, Dr. Fresch, Bijou, and Paz will also be playing, making for a diverse four-hour show.

How Much are Road Rave Tickets?

Ticket prices vary based on where you want to park your car in the venue and how many people are in a car. Currently, car passes for 1-2 people as well as 3-5 people in the front, middle, and back lots are sold out, but there are still opportunities to grab tickets for a 6-8 person vehicle in each lot.

Important Things to Remember:

1. Don't forget your mask! Masks are heavily encouraged to be worn at all times in order to keep others safe!

2. Social Distancing is important! Social distancing will be enforced with strict guidelines and restrictions on when attendees are allowed to safely leave their vehicles. Concessions will be available to order online with direct delivery to each vehicle.

3. Rideshare vehicles and busses are not permitted at this time, so plan accordingly!

4. And lastly, remember to have FUN! Although trading kandi and dancing with strangers will not be possible to do at Road Rave because of social distancing, there are lots of other ways to make your drive in rave experience super fun! Whether you decorate your windows with car chalk and glow sticks, hold totems out your windows, or wave your hands through your sunroof, there is always a way to spread PLUR!

I will be attending Road Rave with five of my friends and I can’t wait as the last show I saw was Liquid Stranger back in March and I’m having withdrawals from raving. This is also a historical moment in the music festival scene and I’m so excited to be a part of it. I’m a week away from getting to braid my hair, put on my face gems and leg wraps, and giving those I love light shows, and nothing makes me happier than getting back to the environment I love most!

In addition to this one-of-a-kind experience, Carnage is going to donate a portion of the proceeds from the event, and his forthcoming documentary to the ANF COVID-19 Relief Fund, which provides assistance to vulnerable communities in Nicaragua during the coronavirus outbreak. While we all miss going to shows and festivals and being immersed by the music, live art, street performers, massive stages, colorful lights, and lasers, these days we are sadly left to enjoy virtual festivals from our couches. Even though we are missing out on the real-life experiences a festival would give us, we can do our best to bring the same energy a rave would give us into our own homes.

Here are a few tips on how to turn your house into the perfect rave venue so you can bring the magic of festival season back into your life!

1. Turn Each Room Into a Different Stage

One of the best parts of going to a festival is getting to see all the elaborate stages with different themes and different artist options! If you want to get the full festival experience, set up a TV, a laptop, or phone in each room and put a different set or live stream on each. Whether you enjoy a different set in each room or frantically try to run from room to room to see both sets like when your two favorite artists play at the same time at an IRL festival, it brings your at-home experience a little closer to what we love so much about festivals.

Pro tip: set up different viewing areas in each room to make it feel like unique stage areas!

2. Zoom Your Friends

Raving with your friends creates lasting memories and celebrating virtual festivals would not be the same without them! A great way to rave with your friends during social distancing is to do a group Zoom! Zoom is cool because you can change your background and make it look like you are actually at a festival while you headbang with your friends over the internet!

3. Light it Up!

Raves and festivals always have the most amazing lights and lasers to help bring the music to life! While most of us do not have access to the same high level technology that the creators of EDC have, we can find things around the house or online to light things up our own way. Fairy or Christmas lights are a good way to add a pop of color to your at home rave. LED lights are also super fun to have on while you dance in your kitchen, or even an old collection of candles. You can also put on visuals from your computer to help add to the vibe.

twinkle lights for your home

4. Create an At-Home "Rail"

I know all of the bass lovers are missing getting their headbang on so of course there has to be a way to break rail from home. Some options you could use as a rail in your home could be your bed, your couch, or even your bathtub. Stand behind your couch or go on your knees for your bath and grab the top or side and bang your head into the open space as if you were at the very front of the Gorge at Bass Canyon.

5. Make a Dance Floor

A good way to take out all the stress of social distancing is to dance! If you have tile or wood floors in your house put some socks on and it's the perfect place to shuffle! Clear out your living room and let the music take over your body and dance like nobody's watching. Dancing is one of the best parts of raving and it allows us to connect with the music we love, so now is a great time to bust out some new moves to get ready for when festival season returns.

6. Have a Light Show

For all of you flow artists, being able to give others light shows with your gloves, whip, hoop, or poi is one of the best parts of a festival. Right now we, unfortunately, can not show others our arts, but it is a great time to practice and learn for festival season. While you put on your favorite live set, a great way to practice flow arts is in the bathroom mirror or reflection of your TV so you can watch how you move your lights and learn what you need to work on. It is also super mesmerizing to watch yourself do a flow art and makes you feel like you’re back under the electric sky.

7. Make Some Time for "Pre-Rave" festivities

Making time to do a few simple things like making kandi before the rave can really help set the mood! Zoom is also great to virtually have a kandi-making date with your friends!

Also, dressing up for the virtual rave is a must - you wouldn’t be getting the full rave experience otherwise! Plus, don't forget to take a few pictures to capture the memory! Here is a guide to help take pictures of your perfect at-home rave look.

While raving from home is not ideal for any of us, all we can do is make the best out of the situation we are in and have fun! I hope these tips make your rave at home experience a little bit better and give you something to make time go by a little faster! Sending PLUR energy and good health!
