Electric Daisy Carnival.

Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas celebrated its 10th birthday in 2021, but it was the 25th EDC Anniversary. Hands down, EDC is the best festival in the country—from the amazing production to the carnival rides—and of course the incredibly diverse lineup—this festival has it all.

EDC was a breath of fresh air during these scary times. Everyone looked incredible and had a special sparkle in their eyes. We waited 2 full years before we could be reunited under the Electric Sky, and it was 100% worth the wait.  

Here is my EDC 2021 recap:

Camp EDC 

Camp EDC was back for its 3rd year, and it looked POPPIN! Camp EDC is a 24 hour camping experience, conveniently placed right outside of the gates of the venue. It has ready-to-go tents, food vendors, a splash pool stage (with its own lineup) & lots of camp activities (like goat yoga). It's definitely the most convenient and efficient way to do EDC. I was truly jealous of all the Snapchats I got from camp, so you bet I won’t miss this again.

Day 1: 

EDC Ticket? Worth every penny. Seeing the speedway all light up again? Priceless. The lineup was stacked! We got to cry to  Seven Lions, sing with  Alesso and headbang with  Excision all in one night. We also got to see the youngest person ever perform at the festival,  Moore Kismet  at age 16! I hope you didn’t miss the surprise  Illenium set at  The Forest Art Car. We truly were “under the electric sky” during the 600 drone-light show (it was breathtaking) with the legendary fireworks show right after. We finished the night with pizza and learning The Institute of  Abraxis. Couldn’t have asked for a better 1st day.

Day 2: 

I thought it wasn’t going to get any better, I was so wrong. EDC Night 2 brought the heat! We got blessed with  Louis The Child  at  Cosmic Meadow,  Wooli at  BassPod  &  Martin Garrix  at  Circuit Grounds.  Diplo even brought out  Lil Nas X  as a special guest! It was INSANE!  Fun Fact: The only artist to play all 10 years of EDC Las Vegas is  Tiësto!  This year he played at  Kinetic Field. The drone show tonight paid homage to some old stage designs from Kinetic Field’s past: kineticCATHEDRAL, kineticGAIA, kineticLOVE, and kineticENERGY. It was spectacular.

Day 3: 

The third night was one I will never forget. I got to see  Rezz, Duke Dumont,  Slander, and  Kygo!  I spent this night walking more than the other nights and exploring the art installations, performers and other parts of the venue. According to Insomniac, “This year also featured an expanded festival footprint, utilizing new areas of the venue," and they made great use of every inch. I visited Downtown EDC  and got to witness people get legally married. I, of course, watched the final drone show and gawked at the fireworks one last time. Amazing.

Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas is scheduled to happen again in May of 2022. This was my 4th EDCLV and I gave away over 300+ mini plastic babies, walked over 28 miles, saw my favorite DJ’s and witnessed million dollar light shows...I cannot wait to do it all again. REZZ

REZZ is a Canadian Producer who has made waves all around the world. Since releasing her first EP in 2015 on OWSLA’s sub label, Nest HQ she was an instant hit. Her most recent album, Certain Kind of Magic catapulted her fame even more, and today she's collaborating with industry leaders like Grimes. REZZ has grown to be a name every raver should know, and her hypnotic, down-tempo beats will surely make you feel…relaxed.

Catch REZZ  at HARD Summer 2021 as well as her own headlining show, Rezzrocks, at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. You will not be disappointed.

GRiZ

Coming right out of Michigan, you have our favorite funk producer: GRiZ! Griz is known for playing his saxophone on stage while he melts the crowd’s minds. He has made bangers with Grammatik and Subtronics, but also can get super vibey. Griz has embodied his phrase: “Show Love, Spread Love” with his team of Liberators. Liberators will help you out at shows and they also participate and lead community service projects.

GRiZ truly cares about the rave community and he kills it on stage. Be sure to support him at Dancefestopia or at Imagine Festival this year!

Ducky

Ducky started their music career at the early age of 13. They were in middle school when a track took off on Myspace, and they hit the clubs shortly after. They found their unique sound of a hypnotic warehouse / experimental vibes, but then turn around and give you softcore that goes right intro hardcore. Recently, Ducky came out with a Pride merch shop: Play Nice. This shop provides sizes XS-4XL and it is all gender-neutral and nonbinary.

Wreckno

Brandon Wisniski, aka Wreckno, is a queer badass musician from Michigan. He produces and raps his own music—and his flow is sick—not only in music, but in dance as well. I started following Wreckno when he was the only male hula-hoop flow artist I could find on Instagram. He was truly an inspiration and really inspired me to start flowing myself, and he didn't stop there. Soon, Wreckno picked up a set of CDJ’s and then blossomed into a very talented experimental bass DJ who raps without skipping a beat. He has really made a name for himself, working with artists like GRiZ, he continues to be a great representative of a queer man who isn't afraid to be who he wants to be. He truly radiates positivity and self-love and it shows.

Kendoll

Last, but not least, we have Kendoll. Kendoll is originally from Seattle, WA, but is now a LA-based. She started getting people dancing when she was 16 and has not stopped since. She has released tracks on labels such as Night Bass, Insomniac Records, Bite This! and more. I can only describe her music as a bassline house mixed with a UK sound. Her newest track, “Acid Party" drops this week so be sure to stream it. 

I got a chance to ask Kendoll if she had any advice for someone who was trying to figure out who they were, and she happily responded:

‘Always keep your heart and mind open. This day in age there are so many support systems for young people trying to figure out their sexuality and to not be afraid is the key, never be afraid of who you are. My pent up sexuality led to lots of insecurities and depression, you will never truly be happy unless you are open about who you are. Lastly, I would say throughout my lifetime exploring my sexuality, there is not a rush to put a label on how you identify. It can be confusing to try and slap a label on how you define love and there is never a time limit on your discovery of yourself throughout your life. No matter what, you are loved, and feeling like you can't be yourself can be harmful to your future relationships, just know there are so many people who will be there for you. Always do this on your own time of course, and when you feel comfortable to do so. But never ever be afraid to be who you are.”

This year's festival season is consistent of live streams and drive-in raves which has a lot of us feeling out of place. The whole world is so different right now so let’s think about all the good times that we have had. We have so many stories that we can tell, so here are some people who want to share theirs. 

I have, once again, collected the most embarrassing raver stories I could find for this article.

“If you've ever been to the Gorge, you know the pit is H O T. Bass Canyon 2018 a guy asked if he could give me a shoulder ride, I KNEW I was sweaty and I told him and he said he didn't care so I was like, "ok cool throw me up there." He did, it was fun, but as soon as I got down I saw my ass cheeks around the collar of this kid's shirt .”  - @_emma_66

“We had just come back from Day 2 of Bass Cannon and our neighbors were trying to cook salmon on their grill and they were out there for like 3 hours and then the person cooking it asked someone they were with, "is this done? Is salmon supposed to be pink, right ?" And they were like, "yeah"...long story short the grill wasn’t even on the whole time” - @Jeslynvenegas

“At Escape 2019, my group pregamed at the parking lot and drank a few vodka Red Bull’s. It was a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the entrance and we all had to pee so we stopped by the portapotties in front of the entrance. I REALLY had to pee but unfortunately, the line was hella long, so by the time it was my turn I was pretty much bursting. I took off all the layers of bottoms I had with my outfit and peed with such enthusiasm but after I peed I realized that I forgot to take my underwater off and it was completely soaked through 😨 I tried cleaning up the best I could but I had to wear my damn gross wet underwear for the rest of the day, I had a meltdown 😂” - @loanabanana82

“So, I was still hungover from the night before so I figured hey, you know I might as well cure this hangover with some food and drinks.. I mean makes sense?? I ate an ungodly amount of wings. Like whatever amount you’re thinking of, multiply it by like 10 maybe. Anyway, I ate “some'' wings and had a “few” beers while we were waiting for the next set. I then was feeling great. The food really helped and to be honest my hangover started to go away a little. We were listening to Vic Mensa’s set (which was dopee) and then maybe 10 minutes in I started getting stomach cramps. My stomach then began to gurgle a bit. I was like, “you know maybe it’s just some gas, it’ll subside”. Nah... it did the opposite. If you think it’s gas but you’re still questioning it, it’s not gas. It’s straight #2. Yeah, I felt it and let’s just say my soul died in that moment. “Dude do you smell that” came from someone next to me talking to their buddy. We now skip to the part where I run off to the bathrooms and text my friends the situation and somehow they came with an extra pair of pants?? Needless to say, fart only on the toilet and don’t eat your body weight in wings. Peace!” - @oliverflynnflynn

“It was Lost Lands 2018. I had taken a break from the scene for 4 years and LL was my first live EDM experience in a long time. The lineup was from a dubstep lovers dream. Rezz was on at the same time as Flux, but I couldn’t miss the chance at an OG, "I Can’t Stop". So I make my way to center front during his set and I Can’t Stop starts to build up. And build up. And I feel the drop coming. The music cuts out right at the top and I take, what I thought was, the appropriate pause before shouting, "I CANT STOP" at the top of my lungs. But I was too early. Too soon. As the words escaped my lips, I knew I had made a mistake. A second after I made that detrimental error, Flux dropped the bass and I was the fool in the pit that couldn't time a bass drop.” - @chubbiwubbi

It was my second Paradiso 2017. One night, me and this guy I was super into in were walking around GA it was late, Like 5 am late lol. Well, I had to use the GA bathrooms if that gives you a mental image of how gross they are & in the middle of situating myself I dropped my entire fanny pack In the pot. Phone. Keys. Ticket. Mask. Makeup. Everything coated. Well, I grab it & do my best to soak it with all the toilet paper in there. I’m sure he was wondering wtf was taking so long.  Well, I come out and of course, didn’t tell him because we weren’t on that level yet. And our entire walk back to gold I smelt like hot crap. He kept trying to hold my hand & get all close. I did my very best to keep my distance & hope he didn’t smell me but I’m sure he did. Long story short we don’t talk anymore & I never told him.”-@larissaboner5

“Oh my goodness, so it was Lost Lands 2019 and I had come in before my group so I could catch Sullivan King's set. Well, afterwards I was literally STARVING so I went and got one of those $20 chicken tender baskets with a side of tots. So I'm sitting there during SVDDEN DEATH'S set just munching along, minding my own business and this guy comes walking up the hill, high fives another guy laying down in front of me and I.KID.YOU.NOT. looks down at my basket, swipes my LAST chicken tender, tries to eat it, and DROPS IT ON THE GROUND!!!! I sat there absolutely stunned and heartbroken that my very last and very expensive piece of chicken literally got stolen right out from underneath me and got dropped within three feet of me. My friends found me a while later and I was still fuming. *DISCLAIMER* IF YOU'RE OUT THERE, GUY WHO STOLE MY CHICKEN TENDER, YOU OWE ME ONE THX <3” - @screamingkate_

“I accidentally stole sandwiches while highly intoxicated at Paradiso and my fiance could not stop laughing at me. I was so embarrassed and felt so dumb. There was 2 lines at the wrap stand, 1 to pay and then the other where people were picking up food. The pickup line was shorter and my lit self was like, HELL YEAH SHORT LINE. So I get up and the lady asks my name. I tell her. She looks confused and I just tell her what sandwich I wanted. She says "oh weird they must have heard your name wrong" and I (way too loudly) yell back ITS ASHLEY. And she’s all "oh I heard you, I just didn’t see your name, here you go! Enjoy" so I walk up to my fiance all proud of myself and my chicken wrap like, "they wrote my name wrong so she gave me my sandwich for free!" And he starts cracking up and is like "that is absolutely not what happened. You definitely stole someone else's food, Ashley." He couldn't stop laughing and I almost cried.” - Ashley Brown

“It was Paradiso 2019. I was hanging out with some friends before the second day of the festival started and my allergies were terrible. I decided to rinse my eyes out with water to see if it would help at all, but at some point, someone had switched my water bottle for a water bottle full of gin. So that gin went straight into my open eye. I didn’t realize why it burned so bad till it rolled to my mouth and I tasted it but no one around me realized till after I had already taken care of it and moved on”  - @therealjentlie

“It was at Bass Canyon 2018. It was my first festival I went to with my boyfriend Jairus, and also my first time at the Gorge. Anyway, I had to peeeeeeeeeee! I timed it perfectly. I made it into the Honey Bucket and I climbed up onto the seat feet firmly planted I thought. I let go thinking it was safe, lost my balance and peed my whole pants. We didn’t camp so I had to sit in my pee shorts for the duration until we got back to the hotel. It was so awesome! I had so much fun I couldn’t care less about my accident. I’ve been in love with Jeff since I first heard him in 2015 so I couldn’t be bothered by the minor setback of peeing myself. The other incident didn’t happen at a festival sadly. I was just at an arcade waiting for a friend and lost my mind for a minute. But I’m okay now."  - @b247365

My story isn’t embarrassing as it is a fun story to tell. This happened at Sasquatch Festival, here in Washington, a couple of years ago. I went to this festival by myself, so I had to make a lot of friends. 

I stumbled across this campsite (they were camped next to people that I had met the previous year at Sasquatch) and we were playing a game. Basically, it's a game of wagers and the losers have to do what the winner says. I lost. 

The bet was: carry an uncooked egg into a festival. Easy. The game got more interesting when the person who made the rule had to EAT the uncooked egg if you got it back out of the festival fully intact. 

There were 6 of us who had eggs. The first couple made rookie mistakes and put them in their pockets/backpacks and didn't even make it inside. Then there were 4. Getting past security was the easy part, eggs weren't on the list of prohibited items. I eventually split up from this group, but kept my egg. I danced with this egg (that I eventually named El-egg-xandria) for about 12 hours.

She was my everything,  I protected her through all. When I would set her down to get a beer, I watched her the whole time and would get the weirdest looks from the staff.

As I sat on the hill after sunset with my egg, I knew my time here was done. Walking back to my campsite at the end of the day, I got pretty sad because I KNEW if I brought this egg back to the random’s campsite, she would be eaten. I sluggishly brought her back, and the group that made the bet FREAKED OUT cause they all forgot about my egg. He ended up eating Eleggxandria and instantly threw up. She lived a good life, and I am not embarrassed. I am proud of all that we accomplished.

To me, EDCLV is the best festival I have ever been to. It tops all production, all performances and all vibes 100 fold. This is a raver’s Disneyland, and you cannot change my mind. Experience EDCLV one day, you will not regret it. This festival changes lives, and you would be no different. You will not, and cannot, see this whole festival in the three days that you are there. Its pure magic.

It's no secret that Excision is no stranger to festivals. In addition to throwing down some insane sets at festivals around the world, he also throws his own festivals twice a year - Lost Lands in Legend Valley, Ohio and Bass Canyon (read about my experience here) at the Gorge in Washintgon. 

Last week, the live sets from Lost Lands were released in straight-up festival style. For 3 Days, "Couch Lands" played the sets in the order they took place at Lost Lands 2019, reminding every headbanger why Lost Lands is arguably one of the best festivals to attend! Where else can you throw down with fellow headbanger in an atmosphere that looks like it's straight out of a scene from Jurrasic Park?! 

After throwing down in my living room during Couch Lands, it's safe to say I am more prepared than ever for Lost Lands 2020. This year, Lost Lands 2020 will take place during Friday, September 25th-Sunday, September 27th in Legend Valley, Ohio for its 4th consecutive year.

3. The Festival Atmosphere 

Other than the incredible music, there is more to this festival than music. There are multiple dinosaurs, some over 100ft tall, all around the festival. Some of which spray water and some you can actually RIDE! This immersive bass experience is unlike any other in the world. According to the Lost Lands Website there will be “all new chill zones, art inspired walkways, trippy forest lighting, and expanded prehistoric decor” What is there not to love?

4. The Music Production Workshops 

In addition to the awesome music, art installations, food and craft beers, there is even a little something for all of you aspiring DJs & producers: Lost Lands holds music production workshops taught by a couple selected artists from this diverse lineup. During the Night Owl Radio lineup announcement, Pasquelle announced that there are over 250 artists playing this year at EDC this year over the course of the weekend. I mean, there's something for everyone on this lineup.

Yes, that’s right, tickets are sold out. With over 150,000 people in attendance for each day, all three days, that's a lot of ravers all together in one place, to celebrate music, love and creativity. 3. Insomniac is using the FULL Speedway for EDC!

According to Pasquella Rotella, CEO and Insomniac Founder, they will be taking full advantage of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway making this the biggest EDC yet! For details, check out his Instagram post. The whole track is 1.5 miles. 150,000 acres of rave.

4. EDCLV has over 8 Stages!

EDC is known for its massive stages, and there are 8 of them. kineticFIELD, cosmicMEADOW, circuitGROUNDS, neonGARDEN, the list goes on. The “Kinetic Cathedral” was the largest stage structure to be built in North America, at over 440 feet long it was longer than a football field and wider than The Statue of Liberty. (source)

If you're in the right place at the right time, it may just make your entire night, like when Kaskade electrified the kalliopeARTCAR with a secret REDUX set while not even on the line-up.

6. Over 2.5 Million sq feet of turf was used for Camp EDC 2019

Only introduced a few years ago, CampEDC has truly become a staple for your EDCLV journey. Thousands come together and create a mini-community within EDCLV. Insomniac knows how to glamp, they create an oasis under the electric sky by providing reflective tents (pre set up), stages just for CampEDC, pools, and baby goats! All this and more sits on 2.5million sq ft of turf to make your nights in the desert one you won't forget. (source)

Over the course of the three days at EDC, you will not see everything, I promise -but that's what makes it worth coming back year after year! I also promise that you will see thousands of like-minded individuals gathered in one place, doing exactly what they love to do. 

This environment cannot be replicated, due to the crazy amount of performers walking around, art exhibits to explore and music to be heard. EDCLV is, and will always be, the move.

With some of our friends dressed as the Incredibles, we went to the show -- Darrius as Frozone,  Kat as Violet, her hubby Alec as Syndrome, Alex as Mr. Incredible, myself as Mrs. Incredible.. I should've caught the reference.. but I didn't. We are big on kandi, so I thought nothing of it when Kat wanted me to close my eyes and trade with her. Once she said I could, I opened my eyes to see a Meeseeks perler, with two Meeseeks -- one with a top hat and one with a veil, with two rings behind them. 

Kat steps aside, and there is my man, on one knee, with all our friends around us, with our song "Us" perfectly timed he asked me to marry him, I said yes as the music transitioned into "Nobody Like You" with a shoutout from the man himself – my man had messaged Kaskade on twitter prior to and let him know his plan to ask. Kaskade let Alex know when he was going to play the two songs, so he could time the proposal. Needless to say, the whole thing was incredible.”

It was Paradiso, 2017, my friends were ready to bring a human into this world, and a little birdy told me that Joe was going to ask Holly to be his wife during Porter Robinson. So as a fam, we watched Porter on the hill and waited for Joe to ask. The anticipation was real, and Porter was the perfect setting. So, of course, I had to take before pics:

“We arrived at the pre-party almost an hour late and my boyfriend, Chase went to fill his water pack. While he was trying to hurry his way back to me, he fell in a hole, rolled out of it and continued to find me. When he got to me he was in complete agony. His right shoulder was protruding up about 2 inches. After a long night in the medic tent, we missed the pre-party and just went to bed. The next morning we got up and went to the local ER. He tore his AC ligament. I spent most the time in the car crying and wanting to go home. By the time we got out of the hospital and back to the campsite, I had 40 minutes to get ready. My best friend was there waiting for me with my outfit. She helped me “Cinderella that shit” and we were off to the ball. The Dr from the night before, offered us a ride in, bypassing the lines so Chase’s arm wouldn’t get hit and bumped standing in line. Once we were in we found a cozy spot and let our freak flags fly. During Sullivan King’s set, he dropped Linkin Park's song, "Bleed it out", Chase grabbed me when the song was over and did a kandi trade with me. He then got on his knee, my bestie handed him a ring and he asked me to be his wife. When I said yes the crowd went crazy. And talk about making the moment ten times more magical, there happened to be a photographer there by the name of Jess Bernstein who captured the most perfect picture. “Above & Beyond continues to just full send it, and brought us The ABGT Weekender. If you can't tell; Above & Beyond really like the Gorge. The stars aligned for this amazing weekend filled with friends and sun (and a little heat exhaustion for both Matt and I). July 27th at 4:30pm came and MY LIFE WAS CHANGED. That was the time I said, "yes" to probably the most important question I will ever be asked. That was the day my best friend got down on one knee, at the place we call home every summer and asked me to be his future wife while we were surrounded by sunshine, love, friends, and so many ecstatic strangers.”

I witnessed this last proposal featured as well,  I just happened to be sitting on the hill at this exact moment. I was at the right place at the right time!

The happiness that radiated from both of the moments I got to experience were undeniably beautiful. These moments are forever, and I was blessed to be a part of them. 

Festivals are more than just music, fancy lights and partying- it’s a place for love to blossom and bonds to be formed.

Last year, Excision shook the Pacific Northwest with a super heavy bass lineup during his premier event, Thunderdome, and he is back to do the same this year. 

Thunderdome is back for TWO days this year: January 31st and February 1st, 2020 at the Tacoma Dome (45 minutes south of Seattle, WA).

This year is gonna be TWICE as much fun as last year, especially because we get the world premiere of his new 'THE EVOLUTION”' stage. Excision's former stage, The Paradox, was extraordinary, so I cannot wait to see his improvements are to this audiovisual experience.

The Thunderdome lineup is STACKED with life alerting back-to-backs such as: 12 Planet + Riot Ten, Wooli + Phase One and Dion Timmer + Blunts & Blondes- in addition to sets by Liquid Stranger, Lucii, & Champagne Drip. The Dome is going to literally break. 

Safe to say that Excision has the northwest dominated with bass from Bass Canyon to, now the annual,  Thunderdome. Read about how Bass Canyon was my favorite festival this year: here! 

There’s something about watching 10’s and 1,000’s of headbangers all going crazy in unison. Here is a viral video from when Excision played the Tacoma Dome in 2017, & it’s a tsunami of headbangers going hard. Gives me chills every time.  Couldn’t think of a better way to start the year off as being the Bass Capital. Will you be in this crowd at the end of January?

2. The Ball Drop

Resolution is on New Year's Eve again this year, so we’ll be counting down the remaining seconds in 2019 in the sea of white and gold. In years past, we’ve had names like Snails, Eric Prydz, Above and Beyond and many other world-renowned DJ’s bring us into the New Year. This year I am hoping for Madeon to start off our 2020. We’ll know whos playing when, the week of the event when USC Events reveals the set times.

3. The VIP Experience

If you decide to go to Resolution, The VIP Experience is out of this world. VIP includes private viewing sections, a private bar, and a separate entrance to the event with a much shorter line. With a certain package, there's even a VIP Champagne toast at midnight. There are different VIP packages to choose from. You can visit USC Events Website for more information.

4. The Theme

It's amazing how Seattle coordinates their outfits by event theme and Resolution is no exception. The annual theme for Resolution is the colors, white and gold.  White represents a clean slate into the New Year and gold represents the elegance of being amongst 17,000 all joined together for a single moment. 5. Rabbit in the Moon (Live)

A Rabbit in the Moon Live set is unlike anything you have ever seen. Their mesmerizing performances will have you captivated until the end. The hypnotic beats paired with psychedelic visuals will have you feelin’ some type of way. Take a look at what happened last time they were in the PNW... this was at Paradiso:

4. Neelix

Psytrance is one of my personal favorite genres so the next one is easy: Neelix . Neelix is a psy-god. More than likely he’ll play at Freaknight’s trance stage, and you can catch me there. The energy this man creates with his crowd is unmatched, and you can tell from watching his sets.  Do. Not. Miss. Him.

3. Dimibo

Did someone say psytrance? Dimibo is a duo from Seattle that has been doing it BIG in the psy-world. Check out their remix of Jason Ross’: The Gorge, you won’t regret it. They are currently working on a project with the king himself, Seven Lions, called “Abraxis”,  and if we are lucky, we will get a taste of their psy-project at Freaknight. Not to mention, they are as nice as they are talented.

2. k?d

k?d definitely will take the cake for most original set at Freaknight. His sets are filled with feels, psy, hard dance, dubstep and more. He is a master of all genres and he plays by his own rules. k?d has massive tracks out, and his live remixes are to die for. 

1. Porter Robinson

This one speaks for itself.  We have been blessed in the PNW once again with Porter Robinson. Porter is a master at his own game. If you have never seen Porter before, make sure to prioritize this. His sets will have you in your feels one minute and completely mind blown the next. He will be playing a DJ set, brace yourselves for greatness.

My favorite set from Bass Canyon was the Liquid Stranger: Wakkan Takeover. LSDream and Lucii were my favorite additions. This set was as magical as it was trippy. Liquid Stranger did not mess around when it came to this set. By far the best Liquid Stranger set I’ve ever seen.

Also, Dion Timmer got to play the sunset slot, and it was nothing short of incredible.

We had a very special surprise this year at Bass Canyon, we got Android Jones’, 360-degree, Samskara dome. This immersive art/audio exhibit was EXTRAORDINARY. It’s been all over the world & we were blessed to have this in our presence. If you had time to stop by, consider yourself lucky.

WAVES was also back at it again with their super impressive Space Dome. The Space Dome, hosted by Bass Therapy, was stacked with the best local bass DJ’s the Pacific Northwest has to offer. This immersive art experience paired with amazing talent was definitely one of the highlights at Bass Canyon this year. With image projection and incredible installations, this dome was out of this world.

1. People Watching

This year, I did a lot more people watching - I mean, how could I not? 20,000+ patrons with incredible outfits, decked out squads, covered in glitter, and all with huge smiles on their faces. Everyone you encountered was having the time of their life, at the most beautiful venue in the world. This is, Paradiso.

2. The Venue (and those sunsets!)

Paradiso means “heaven, as the final abode of the righteous”, and that’s exactly what this festival is: Heaven on earth. If you’ve never seen the venue, let me enlighten you:

The sunsets here at unmatched, and this year at sunset we had the pleasure of seeing San Holo reign in the most incredible set- at the most perfect time.

3. Seeing i_o at the Digital Oasis Stage

The PNW was not prepared for the techno that i_o brought to Digital Oasis. His set blew everyone away, Death by Techno is real and he demonstrated that flawlessly.

4. Experiencing Curiosity Cove

WAVES took over Curiosity Cove (an interactive art experience inside a tent) this year and I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’ve seen the WAVES crew bring Lucky to life with Clover Park (an actual indoor playground, complete with astroturf and adult-sized teeter-toters) and they are always surprising with us with their artistic productions. WAVES throws their own events in the Seattle area and are definitely something you should check out if you liked what they did with Curiosity Cove.

6. The Pre-Party

The pre-party on Thursday, in the GA campgrounds, featured the Rynobus which is mobile, interactive stage! It’s been to festivals like: Coachella & EDC and now Paradiso. It. Was. Dope.

Every year USC Events surprises me with more and more reasons to fall in love with Paradiso Festival. My first Paradiso festival was in 2013 and it’s been blowing me away ever since. Missed Paradiso but want to experience the Gorge? Come to Above and Beyond: The Weekender happening in July.

When is Paradiso?

Paradiso Festival happens at the Gorge Amphitheatre every June in George, Washington - hosted by USC Events. This year, Paradiso will take place on June 14 & 15th. This two-day festival has the most magical vibes and the most breathtaking views in comparison to any festival I have ever gone to. The Gorge Amphitheatre is rated #1 most beautiful venue in the world, and it proudly protects its title.

Where do I stay?

Most attendees camp but there are nearby hotels with shuttle options to and from the venue. There are multiple levels of camping, each having their own perks:

• General Admission is the largest camping area with the most people.
• Premier is gated and has staff members checking wristbands at all entrances to ensure a more calm atmosphere for attendees. In Premier you are granted free shower access and a shuttle service to and from the venue.
• Gold, being right next to the venue and is most convenient.
• Terrace, which is on several terraces overlooking the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, each campsite is allotted a picnic table and free showers with continental breakfasts.

Wherever you camp (or stay) will not affect how much fun you have at The Gorge, but each has one has perks, so choose wisely. Camping is a separate ticket to your festival ticket and must be purchased online before entering The Gorge Amphitheatre. I always come prepared with a tent, pillows and blankets.

While The Gorge gets blistering hot during the day, it always gets super chilly at night so plan accordingly. Stay tuned for an exclusive homegameauction Paradiso style guide. 

Where do I eat?

Food is ESSENTIAL for human life, and should be treated as so. While there are delicious food trucks and carts inside the festival and at the campgrounds, it’s alway wise to bring your own food as well. Protein bars, apples, bananas, avocados, peanut butter & jelly, and Gatorade are always cheap and easy things to pack on-the-go. If you're bringing refrigeration items, I suggest going to a store and buying dry ice, for it keeps your food cold and the ice lasts way longer than normal, bagged, ice. (Ice is also available for purchase in the campgrounds to keep your ice restocked) Personally, I go all out with campsite food and I buy a propane stove with refills and make breakfast burritos for my campmates (and my neighbors) for breakfast, and spaghetti for dinner because they are such easy meals to make and they go far. If you do go that route, the Gorge does not allow open flame campsites so make sure to check the rules before buying your camping gear. Popular food inside the venue ranges anywhere from chicken strips to teriyaki, you won't go hungry if you're planning ahead! For a good rule of thumb, plan on bringing a case of water for every two people in your squad. Or there are refill stations in the campsites and all over the venue for your big jugs of water as well.

What do I wear?

As mentioned before, The Gorge can get blistering hot during the day and super chilly at night so plan accordingly. I do so by wearing my rave gear into the festival and bringing a change of clothes for when it gets dark and leaving it in my locker for later. While on the topic of lockers, plan ahead for yourself and leave items in there that you would need for tomorrow. For example: if you bring in sealed deodorant to have during the festival, leave it in your locker overnight so you can have it for the following day. Shoewear if VERY important. The location of General Admission camping to the venue is quite the stretch, so please wear appropriate walk-wear so you don't hate yourself later (speaking from experience). • Rent a locker - They have chargers in them, they are a great meeting point for you and your squad, and they hold your stuff so you don't have to
• Repeat, “ID, Ticket, Money”- Use this mantra before leaving your house, and your campsite- you’d hate to be the person that makes your squad turn around (I promise).
• Remember to put your car keys in a safe place - I can't tell you how many people I've seen lose their keys at a camping festival and if you do it's okay because there are locksmiths on site!
• HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE - Having fun is no excuse to not keep yourself hydrated, there are many hydration stations all over The Gorge so take care of yourself.
• Dress accordingly, especially footwear - Check weather beforehand for local areas
• Don't be afraid to ask for help! If you or a friend are feeling abnormal or need medical attention, please reach out to staff. They are there to help you, not get you in trouble! Look for the orange “Conscious Crew” shirts- they are raver volunteers whose primary job is to keep you safe and to ensure you have the best time you can possibly have.
• Be aware of your surroundings - Use landmarks to describe your location within the venue and the campsites.
• Pack the Essentials: Don't forget sunscreen, deodorant, Wet Wipes, phone charger, hydration pack, etc.  
• Take Pictures - you’ll want to remember Paradiso for the rest of your life

1. Clover Park

Every year USC Events has what’s called “Clover Park”, which is a turf-covered Park in the middle of the rave. In the past, it’s had teeter-totters, a giant lite-brite, and a dum-dum tree. This year WAVES, a local artist collective comprised of digital art, Dj’s/Producers, aerial artists and more, got the opportunity to host Clover Park and they did a PHENOMENAL job. There was a giant rainbow art installation that used projections to bring the rainbow to life. They had someone painting live in the middle and created the most magical vibes. The WAVES team truly brought Clover Park to life, making it a new and unique experience for the 2019 event.

2. The Crowd

The crowd at the event was the best crowd I’ve ever been a part of. Everyone was so kind and so friendly. Everyone was BEAUTIFULLY dressed and reminded me why I first started raving in the first place. I mentioned before that Lucky is a St. Patrick's Day themed festival and this year the Lucky outfits were ON POINT.

Not only the crowd, but the staff was the nicest I’ve witnessed. USC Guest Services and Conscious Crew were extremely helpful for whenever I had questions and they made navigating the event easy. Not to mention, the performers had incredible costumes and their characters added a fun and magical element to the evening. 

3. Galantis

I have been raving since 2013, and that set by Galantis takes the cake for best progressive house set I’ve ever seen. They were MAGIC. From the visuals, to the lighting, to hearing “Peanut Butter Jelly”; the set from start to finish was spectacular. This was one of those sets that told a story from beginning to end, and I never wanted this story to end. The energy that I felt streaming through the crowd was unparalleled to any set I’ve been to prior.

The next big massive here in the pacific northwest is Paradiso that happens June 14th and 15th at the beautiful Gorge Amphitheatre. Tickets and more info available here.

1. The Venue

The Gorge is rated the most beautiful music venue in the nation because there is nothing else like it! The views from the amphitheater itself will take your breath away and accompanied by your best friends + awesome music- you’ll be in heaven.  

Something else that makes the Gorge unique is the campgrounds. The campgrounds are the biggest and best party I've ever been to, I always meet so many people here. The first year I went to Paradiso, it was Thursday night before the event.  I told my brother that I was having the time of my life, and he responds with, “We haven't even gone into the festival yet.” I was shook, to say the least.

2. The Lineup

Although I am a full believer that the lineup does not make or break a festival; the vibes, venue and especially the people you attend with will all make your experience something to remember. BUT, this year- the lineup is guaranteed to bring people from all over the country together.

PARADISO 2019 HAS THE MOST FIRE LINEUP I HAVE EVER SEEN, HANDS DOWN.

The amount of different genres represented on this lineup is crazy. We have heavy bass hitters such as Bear Grillz, Cookie Monsta B2B Doctor P, and Riot Ten- but there is also a bunch of super chill acts in here such as Opiou, Klingade, and Two Friends.

There is something for everyone to enjoy all day long - so I am scared for the Hunger-Games style set conflicts everyone is going to have. One thing I love about Paradiso is the 3 different stages that each have a unique theme. 

This lineup is STACKED with headliners, such as: Skrillex, Illenium, Kaskade, Zeds Dead, ZHU, Alison Wonderland and more. These headliners will all most likely be played on the Mainstage, which looks amazing during the day because of the breath-taking views of the Gorge in the background. It also looks amazing at nighttime because of the visuals and fireworks.

The amount of house & techno going to be played, likely all going to be at, Digital Oasis Stage this year is INSANE. First of all, we have Frida K from here in Seattle as local support which is HUGE because she is incredible. We also have Shiba San, LOW STEPPA, Walker & Royce and my personal favorite i_o.

The Wreckage Stage is usually known as the bass stage. In the past, the Wreckage has hosted bass acts such as Kayzo, Getter, and Snails.

3. AMUSEMENT PARK RIDES & ART INSTALLATIONS

Other than music, USC Events provides patrons with amusement park rides, free with the purchase of a ticket. In the past, Paradiso has had a Ferris wheel, a giant swing set, and a big spinny top. There’s nothing like taking a break from raging and riding the Ferris wheel to get a full 360-degree-view of the entire Gorge. Interactive art installations are also a huge reason why I look forward to Paradiso every year!

Festivals are chalk-filled with opportunities to create timeless tales. The place most ravers from the Pacific Northwest call “home” is Paradiso and happens annually in June at the beautiful Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State. Home is where the heart is, am I right?

This will be my 7th Paradiso this year, and as dates & info are getting announced, it makes me reflect on all the good times I’ve had at this festival. With 25,000 people in attendance each year, I know I'm not alone. I reached out across my social media platforms and asked people to share their favorite moments from Paradiso. Here are some of my favorite stories:

“Paradiso 2018 - I left my phone in the porta potty by the house stage. I walked all the way to the hill and realized I had left it. So we rushed back and it wasn’t there so I went to the sinks frantically looking and this girl had it and was looking for me. This definitely restored my faith in humanity and why I love true ravers!” -  @birthmarkqueenc

“My favorite memory is from my second Diso. I took my boyfriend with me for his first Diso, we had been together for about 6 months at the time. Both of us secretly planned to say “I love you” for the first time. What made it even more perfect was that it was during Louis the child’s set, that’s who we saw on our first date. They’re also my favorite artist. My friends knew both of us had the same idea, but we were both in the dark. Every time I watch the video it makes me cry. Diso is a magical place💕” -  @_bb_lotus

“I was walking up the hill with my best friend. We both had just moved to Washington this year from two different states and had never been to the Gorge before. We got to the top and immediately started bawling like babies just holding each other lol. We’ve never seen nature like this coming from two pretty flat states (Louisiana & Texas) and to be surrounded by that much positive energy from everyone around us, just made the moment so much more magical.”   -  @Kristin_Sonnier

“Paradiso 2018 was my first year. I saw lots of new artists for the first time, but my favorite moment was Saturday night, just after sunset as the sky grew dark, Tchami X Malaa had started. Malaa was intense and fiery, the entire venue was red as we all danced in the night. Out of nowhere, Tchami came in with Adieu pt. I & II, a favorite of one of my closest friends who had brought me to watch this set, and now a favorite of mine I'll never forget”   - @JordanElliot17

“I went to my very first rave as a super last minute tag-along with my group of friends. I literally spent my last $50 on a ticket and squeezed into the backseat of their car along with all their camping gear! My favorite memory was getting lost and finding my way into the crowd while Above & Beyond were playing and just taking in the whole experience. I felt like I had finally found where I belonged. I haven’t missed a Paradiso since, and I don’t plan to. It’s the one festival that I won’t ever get tired of. 💕”  -  @shleeedm

Personally, my favorite memory from Paradiso happened in 2016 when I was approached by this girl. She comes up to me and says “Hey, I think you photobombed me and my friends in 2013 while waiting for the Ferris wheel. I was shocked she remembered me from so long ago. She then proceeded to pull up the picture, and then she showed me a picture that I had never seen from my first EDM festival. After we connected on social media, we obviously had to recreate the pic so here is our glow up:

We started the night off the right way (and by that, I mean she allowed me put face jewels on her face) and the initiation to raving had begun. One of my favorite things about festivals is putting glitter and jewels on people, so this was crazy cool to me. On our walk to the venue, I was trying my best to debrief her on the different stages, what was included in her VIP band, and an overall idea of what she was about to experience. But how could I ever capture that in a 15-minute walk?

When we walked past the super long line to get in, she got scared, but with having VIP, we got to skip the line and use a separate entrance. As we walked into the venue we were greeted by a top-notch view of mainstage and performers taunting us. The look on her face was priceless - she had no idea what she was getting herself into.

First thing first, she had to go to the bathroom. I directed her to the appropriate place and she came out absolutely MORTIFIED (I forgot to tell her that the bathroom stalls don't shut because the WaMU Theater locks them open for safety purposes during festivals). I couldn’t have laughed harder as she told me about how the other ravers had to explain to her that she could keep trying to close every stall, but they were not going to close.

I then took her around the venue to all the different stages to see all of the local artists: Kendoll, Darrius and Quackson. We continued wandering through the festival to see all the art installations and carnival rides. Then, (of course) she was hungry. Guess what she got? Chicken Strips! (The deliciousness of the Chicken Strips served at most USC Events are a long-time running inside joke with people who frequently attend USC Events). Finally, my mom got to experience these delicious strips and was truly living her best life at the rave.

A piece of important information that I shared with my mom was about #TheMessage. #TheMessage is a campaign started by USC Events & their safety team, The Conscious Crew, to ensure everyone at the venue has a safe and fun time. It’s more than just hydrating (which is super important). It’s about watching out for your fellow ravers - reporting something that you see, getting consent before anything, pin-pointing a meeting place for when you get lost, the list goes on. It embodies “PLUR” and what it truly means to be a part of this community. Everyone we ran into was super helpful and informative and was wondering if my mom or myself had any questions or concerns.

We went and watched Bonnie x Clyde and she had a great time Snapchat-ing the whole thing and enjoying her chicken strips. Before the rave, she was worried that she wasn’t going to know any songs, but she slowly started to realize that most of the music she hears on the radio, and in commercials ( and really everywhere) is electronic music in different forms. Her expectations were slowly dissipating before her eyes.

This was the first year USC Events added a new stage to Freaknight: the Fun House Silent Disco! There were constantly three different DJ’s spinning on different channels for the participants to choose from while streaming to wireless headphones! Each channel had a different color so you were able to see what other ravers were listening to the same set as you.

The art installations at Freaknight this year were SPECTACULAR. There was a giant cube that was made up of giant LED panels that were changing all night long. The performers were jaw-dropping; they were dressed to perfection and they wouldn’t break character even after all my laughter. All in all, my mom and I created memories that will last a lifetime.

After that, we spent most of our time up in the VIP area above mainstage: where there was plenty of seating, a glitter bar, a private bar and of course the best view the house has to offer. I asked mom how she was enjoying it, and her response made my entire night: “There are butts and boobs everywhere, all shapes and sizes- and no one cares! You can wear whatever you want and you’re still accepted. Christmas lights on your legs? Sure. Umbrella inside? Sure. I want a light up tutu.”

The day after, I found this on her Snapchat and my heart warmed:

When asked if she would come back, she had no doubts in her mind that she would return. It’s a giant party filled with a community that cares about each other and with performers that are entertained all night long. We ended our night with Marshmello closing mainstage, exactly what she had been waiting for all night. He played all his commercial dance music that she recognized and she was overall satisfied.

We’re all humans and bodily functions are completely normal, and we have to deal with them all the time - even at the rave.

“Seasons 2016 was definitely a show to remember. The lineup was incredible, with Porter Robinson and Odesza headlining. I went with my now boyfriend of two years, but this was only a few months into our relationship. I’ve always been an anxious person, especially when I’m emotional. It was day two, and Odesza was just starting. I had made this grand plan to tell him that I loved him during Porter, but I chickened out on day one so I decided to say it during day two. After a hefty amount of drinks (I had just turned 19, the legal drinking age in Canada), we made our way into the crowd. The lights come up, the beautiful music starts, and I can feel my heart pounding about 3,000 beats per minute. At this point, I probably looked like I was about to have a heart attack, and he kept asking me what I was going to say and what was going on, and before I could even get a single word out my anxiety (and the alcohol) took over and I puked in my hands and ran away. Let’s just say I waited a few more months to tell him how I really felt. Definitely my most embarrassing rave story. We laugh about it now, but oh man.”  - Anonymous 

“I was walking back from the porta potties to our camp with my boyfriend and I was only wearing your average rave bottoms & a t-shirt. The walk back to the camp was all fine and dandy until I got to camp & my whole group was there, then I felt something tickle my leg. Curious, I turned around and saw toilet paper HANGING FROM MY BOTTOMS LITERALLY ALL THE WAY TO MY ANKLES. MIND YOU I AM VERY TALL SO THAT'S A LOT OF TOILET PAPER AND I PROBABLY JUST WALKED BY ABOUT 100+ PEOPLE. I snatched the tp out of my bottoms and balled it up as fast as I could. My heart dropped because I was so embarrassed. Out of all of those people, someone HAD to see, you know? The only person who knows this is my boyfriend and I didn't tell him until half a year late. To this day I still have no idea if any of my friends saw and I still don’t want to know.”  - @friedflower on Twitter

The floor of any concert is a scary place, and a rave is no different. On the floor you’ll find lots of water bottles, broken pieces of kandi and lots of other not-so-plur items.  

“It was Day 1 of Paradiso 2016. I woke up super excited to get ready and go meet up with my friends across the campgrounds in GA. When it’s summer, i'm ALWAYS barefoot. So, I'm lightly running to get to my other group of friends and step on some warm mush. Whatever it was it squished between my toes. I looked down and I had stepped on a dead field rat!!! I had dead rat squished between my toes. I fell over and was almost barfing trying to wipe it in the grass. Of course when I look up this whole campsite full of dudes are standing there laughing at me hysterically. I died inside and am definitely never going to forget this moment.” - @shiix2 (from Instagram) 

Falling in love at the rave is the dream of most ravers - running into your ex isn’t usually a part of that plan.

“There I was obviously feeling some kind of way during Alesso’s set. I had just picked up a tall can of Bud-Light and a basket of the ‘World Famous Chicken Strips’. I tend to do this thing where I wander during massive shows, and now it’s dark out. After searching for awhile, I had finally found a place on the hill at Paradiso to relax and enjoy the set- when all of a sudden I slipped on a rogue tutu and went rolling down the hill. And that’s not even the embarrassing part... here’s the kicker: I landed right in the middle of my ex boyfriend and his new slam piece. #RaveFail” - @Daddy_Topher on Twitter 

Outfit malfunctions and hair-style fails are a common problem between both girls and guys at any event. Clothes that you’ve maybe tried on maybe once bouncing, between stages for hours on end- something is bound to come loose.

“One time I was with my friends (Emma & Skye) watching at Jack Beats at Paradiso 2015 and my entire boob popped out of my leotard, without me knowing, and then my friend Skye had to grab my boob while opening up my leotard to put it back. “I was jumping up and down to Martin Garrix and my shorts fell down and didn't even realize it until  someone tapped my back and told me.” - @gage_wesley on twitter 

"In 2013 I only went to EDC one day. I was so excited and because I only went in Sunday I made sure to go all out on my hair, makeup, and outfit. I got inside and went straight to Circuit Grounds to meet my friends. One of them gave me a piece of gum. I remember I was talking so fast about who I wanted to see I didn't notice when the wind blew a piece of hair into my mouth, the gum attached to it and then blew it out in a whirlwind of Vegas heat. Next thing I know I have a wad of gum tangled in my hair and I'm frantically trying to pull it out not knowing that's the worst thing to do when you get gum in your hair. I went with all guys so when I told them about it they had no idea how to help except one of them said: "maybe something slippery." I looked around and saw a hamburger stand and exclaimed "Mayonaise!" I ran up to the lady and asked her for some mayo. It was in a giant squirt container and she just pumped it straight into my hand. I lathered it into my hair and got most the gum out, but then realized my hair was covered in greasy mayo. For the most part I didn't care, I dance the night away, but I'll never forget the night I spent at EDC with mayo in my hair. I also learned later there are a lot of better ways to remove gum from your hair than lathering it with mayo. #themoreyouknow" - Mama Unicorn

Personally, I haven’t had any outfit malfunctions, and I haven’t stepped on any dead rats, but here is my embarrassing rave story. It didn’t happen at a rave, but since it involved an electronic artist - I believe it still counts. Here we go:

At Sasquatch Festival I was super tired and left the venue to go back to camp and I was perfectly okay with missing Flume. I get back to camp and my squad convinced me that I HAD to go back and see Flume, they made me shotgun a beer, and they put gel inserts in my shoes and I ran back to the venue I see Flume. I went all the way down to the pit at mainstage to see Flume and I was super disappointed. He didn’t play any songs I knew and I was really bored. I went back to camp and went to bed. I was talking to my other camp mates about how awful his set was and they completely disagreed, “No way man! Flume killed it at El Chupacabra.” It was in that moment I realized I went to the wrong stage completely. And after checking the set times to see who I really saw - no one was even scheduled for that time slot at the mainstage. I listened to elevator music while Flume was performing at a different stage.

Raves are full of amazing memories and great stories. Just remember, when you find toilet paper hanging from your pants, or fall down in front of your ex, it’s not the end of the world. The show must go on, and no ones judging you at the rave.

There are many things that made this year different from any other year I have gone. It was no surprise that the main stage took my breath away, but you could see the detail and hard work USC Events put into the other stages as well. This year, Digital Oasis had a tent covering the audience and The Wreckage looked like it was an Aztec Empire. Not to mention, the art installations were mesmerizing.

Virtual Self brought back vocal trance to 2018 with his captivating display, Tchami & Malaa’s “No Redemption” set showed the PNW how to never recover from a house set, and Deadmau5’s cube had the whole audience’s jaw on the floor. The talent this year at Paradiso was unparalleled to anything I have seen in the past.

homegameauction sponsored this year’s campground activities, and it provided festival lovers with tons of activities, including a totem / kandi making station, yoga, and even a glitter bar hosted by Lunatics. If you missed out, I feel bad for you.

Digital really met nature this year when a thunderstorm rolled into The Gorge causing safety professionals on site to evacuate the venue and send everyone back to the campsites. USC Events worked hand-in-hand with meteorologists to ensure everyone had a safe experience. Once the venue reopened, the vibe of the festival completely changed. We were all able to come back together and be thankful/joyful that the show was to go on! The silver lining in the thunderstorm was that we were blessed with an unexpected Justin Martin b2b Claude Von Stroke to get the crowd moving again, and that alone was worth reentering the venue. Not to mention, there was an incredible sunset that provided many #nofilter moments on Instagram.

Through rain and shine, and through all the setbacks, USC Event’s gave me the best Paradiso experience I could’ve asked for. Good luck for next year, it’s going to be a challenge to top this one.

This is the fourth year USC Events is hosting Bass Academy and this year's line up is no joke. With Zomboy and Borgore headlining, this will be one of the most knowledgeable lessons yet. In years past, this class fills up quick so be sure to grab a seat and don’t come to class unprepared. 

Every time Zomboy is here in the PNW he draws such an immense crowd with ecstatic energy. The forthcoming lectures will guarantee success for their tests. Let’s not forget about Borgore now. He always brings out the wild and ratchet side in every bass head, so this Bass Academy is not one you’ll want to miss.

Bass Academy is known for its unique back-to-backs (also known as b2b for those who haven't attended the Academy yet). This year we have UZ B2B Stooki Sound, Phase One B2B Sullivan King, EPROM B2B Woolymammoth, and finally premiering in the Northwest, Kompany B2B Tynan. Northwest favorite, AMF will also be there testing your headbanging skills. These B2B sets are always a class favorite. Didn’t study? Well with teachers like UZ & Stooki covering trap, you‘ll surely succeed.

Lucky includes three stages, art installations, extravagant performers and Lucky’s very own: Clover Park. Clover Park is a playground designed within the Tacoma Dome. In years past, it has had teeter totters, a giant Lite-Brite, a tree made of dum-dums and it’s all surrounded by turf, creating the perfect child-like wonderland.

To find the headbangers and bass bunnies, you’ll need to follow the sounds of bone-rattling bass to the Leprechaun’s Lair. Keep your ears open for Spag Heddy, Getter and Andy C. this year. Since Seattle is the Bass Capital, this stage is guaranteed to be nothing short of amazing.

The main stage, also known as “The Lucky Arena”, has been home to some of the biggest names in dance music and will likely include Flux Pavillion, Carnage and Jauz this year. USC Events always goes above and beyond with designing their stages, and main stage always seems to take my breath away.

Finally, we have “Bliss: The End of the Rainbow”. This particular stage holds a very special place in my heart. Previously, this stage has hosted artists showcases such as Anjunabeats & The Future Sound of Egypt, and was just referred to as “The End of the Rainbow.” This year USC gave Bliss, USC’s trance event, a home at Lucky. I attended the first two years of Bliss and they were immaculate. The stage production, lasers, the artists, and the people that attended those events made Bliss something to look forward too. Now that Bliss lives at Lucky, it’s going to be hard to get me away from this stage. The lineup for this stage (pictured below) is so diverse in the trance world, from Sneijder to Ørjan Nilsen; Bliss: End of The Rainbow has everything my heart desires.

The full lineup was just released and it’s nothing short of amazing. Headlines like Jauz and Flux Pavillion are sure to draw people from all over the PNW. Can’t wait to see you all in March!

This was my third Resolution Festival here in Seattle and it was by far my favorite. What made this year so special? A new, third, stage was added to the mix, AND it was full of house and trance! USC named this stage “The Clock Tower” and it was the best design I’ve seen in quite some time. The visuals, the stage, the vibes accompanied with the sounds of Gorgon City, I was in house heaven. At Freaknight, (USC Event’s annual Halloween Event), this hallway is where you would’ve found the bass stage, but at Resolution you were instantly captivated by the repetitive house beats and vortex-like tunnel USC created.

Something that really stood out to me about Resolution was the sense of community I received everywhere I went. USC Event’s has a program called “Conscious Crew” which is volunteer group of ravers who walk around the events, in pairs, ensuring other ravers are having a good, safe, time at USC Events. That alone always made me feel like I was being watched after and cared for. Unity surrounded me, for example, I’d walk up to one of the water stations to refill my water, and the person in front of me in line would offer me to go in front of them. Even a small gesture like that, (although I declined their offer) made me realize what a caring community I am a part of.

Resolutions lineup was so diverse, I never found myself being the slightest bit bored. I was able to jump from the future-bass style’s of K?D, to some grimy bass provided by Figure. I was fully entertained the entire time. Speaking of K?D, he definitely had the best set of the evening. I had seen him once before at EDCLV this year, but his set at Resolution definitely took the cake. He was able to go from some future bass, to psy-trance, to dubstep flawlessly. Transitions were great and the crowd he drew was incredible. People dancing all around me, all enjoying the same thing I was enjoying: true bliss.

Unfortunately, Resolution couldn’t be held on NYE this year due to the Seahawks game that same weekend (for those of you that don’t know, The WAMU Theater is directly underneath Century Link Stadium). Even though Resolution wasn’t held on NYE this year, that didn’t stop USC Events from throwing the best New Years Party in the Pacific Northwest!

The sea of gold and white was a breathtaking way to bring in the new year and I’m already thinking about the next USC Event’s massive - Lucky. Held on March 17th, 2018, Lucky is USC’s St. Patrick’s Day event and without a doubt, should be just as magical as Resolution.
