A little bit of planning goes a long way and can ensure your wardrobe is climate ready. I’ve spent most of my time in the warmer states like Arizona and California, but I have some good tips to help you survive the upcoming winter raves. Just remember, during this time of year, you want to keep it cute and warm.

First things first, your will depend on where you are going. I'm debating between Countdown NYE’s Invasion 3.0 and Decadence NYE in Colorado. In 2019, I attended Countdown in Southern California. The weather was predicted to be in the 70-80s during the days and dropping near freezing temperatures at night. So, my clothing of choice was a onesie. It was great while I was exploring the venue, but when I hit the crowd and started dancing, it felt like a sauna in that outfit.

If you’re like me, you’ll be sweating and dancing the night away too, so I recommend wearing something that meets in the middle for any rave that you attend, that way you’ll be comfy and cozy no matter what time of day.

At the very least, plan to coat check a jacket so you don't freeze while you're waiting in line to get into the venue of whatever winter rave you're attending. You may think you can rough it, but splurging on a $5 coat check will be well worth it at the time.

Accessories 

Some of the most important accessories for winter raves are beanies, gloves, ear muffs, hand warmers, and warm or insulated socks. You can pretty much pick up any of those accessories at homegameauction. I suggest packing any or all of these accessories for your winter rave adventures, like the Furry Feline Earmuffs or a bucket hat to keep your head warm!

Outerwear

Layering up is key when attending a winter fest especially if it’s completely outside. As you’re going from inside to outside and exploring the different stages and venues, remember to prepare for the worst and the best. Outside could be freezing but inside could be a little warm. So bring what you need to keep you warm, but use layers that can be easily removed when things start to heat up. Regardless of where you end up, I’m sure you’ll have the best time ringing in the New Year with the people you love most.

Event and Lineup

Electric Zoo takes place at the beautiful Randall’s Island Park located along the East River between Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx, the island is in the heart of the Big Apple. It includes numerous fields of spaces to dance and wander around, along with beautiful waterfront views. It’s the perfect venue for those whose hearts belong to the city and the rave scene.

Passes are still on sale for those who are deciding to make the event last minute. The festival offers full weekend passes and single-day for ravers who only want to go one day. There are also three-day, single-day, and ferry and shuttle passes still available on the website. The event will feature performances from some of the biggest names in dance music today. This lineup caters to multiple genres of EDM and will be a perfect place to discover a new favorite artist. There will be four different stages to dance your heart out to. There’s Mainstage, Hilltop Arena, Riverside, and The Grove. Four beautiful stages with the gorgeous New York City skyline in the background. Sounds like a dream.

Travel and Hotels

There are numerous to get to this event. For those flying in, the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) are the three major airports to fly into. JFK and LaGuardia are easy to fly into if you're staying in Brooklyn or Manhattan. If you're staying in Manhattan, you can also fly into Newark and get into the city in less than an hour. I recommend staying in Midtown if you're new to New York and want to be able to get to the festival easily. It will still be around an hour to the festival, but you'll be staying in a part of the city that has a lot to check out and do—plus it's located pretty centrally.

Randall's Island doesn't have its own MTA station, so you'll have to take the subway up to Harlem or the Bronx and then get a Lyft or Uber or you can just Uber there directly. The 4, 5, and 6 trains will get you really close to the festival, and you can easily hail a ride from anywhere between 116 street and the lower Bronx. If you're not familiar with the NYC subway system, I recommend just taking a rideshare or cab or getting directions from an app like Google Maps.

Freaky Deaky 

Freaky Deaky in Bayton, Texas will take place on October 29th and 30th this year at the Houston Raceway Park. The event will include performances from AC Slater, Kaskade, Liquid Stranger, Wooli, Gryffin, Subtronics, Illenium, and Gorgon City. This is only a part of the lineup, so get excited. Boo!

Boo! Halloween makes its return to Wamu Theater on October 28th and 29th. Boo! is the largest event in PNW and one you don’t want to miss. The event will feature three different stages and a cast of scary characters ready to meet you. The three stages are House of Haunts, Groove Graveyard, and Den of Darkness. These will include performances from Alison Wonderland, Armhmr, Crystal Skies, Kill the Noise, Rezz, Sullivan King, and Tchami. Grab your tickets here. 

Get Freaky 

Get Freaky returns to Salt Lake City, Utah for its first ever three-day event packed with some wicked music. The event takes place October 28th through the 30th at The Great Saltair. 12th Planet B2B Rusko, Barely Alive, Blanke, Ganja White Night, Peekaboo, and Zeds Dead are just a few of the artists performing this weekend. Supernatural Festival 

Supernatural Festival is Colorado’s biggest Halloween event and takes place on October 29th. The single-day event will include performances from Lil Texas, Madeon, Ray Volpe, Riot Ten, Subtronics, Ship Wrek, Level Up, and Gareth Emery. More artists will be announed soon, so keep an eye out for this event. Check out the website here for more information.

The lineup this year is one for the books. Adventure Club, Illenium, Saymyname, Sullivan King, Boombox Cartel, Ganja White Night, Matroda, Koven, Rezz, Whipped Cream, and Peekaboo are just a few of the artists performing in celebration of Nocturnal Wonderland. Event and Lineup

The event is located at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, IL right outside downtown Chicago. The stadium includes seven full fields with padded turf. There will be five different stages for attendees to get lost in. This year the festival will have multiple art installations and performers running around, so don’t be afraid to explore and say hi.

Guests will get to see performances from Subtronics, Armin Van Buuren, Gryffin, Level Up, Illenium, Jai Wolf, Slander, Yotto, and Porter Robinson to name a few. Ophelia Records is coming in and taking over this festival.  Seven Lions, Jason Ross, Mitis, Trivecta, Wooli, Gem, and Tauri will be performing as well. I highly recommend finding time to go see those on Ophelia Records, you won’t regret it. Travel

North Coast Music Festival has many options for your stay in Illinois. If you like to camp there are two different campgrounds available. Camp Bullfrog Lake and Camp Sullivan. The festival itself is not affiliated with these campsites but has partnered with them to provide options for guests. You can find more information on the website to book the campground and request a shuttle service here. There are numerous hotels too that have partnered with the festival to make the lodging process easier, which you can also find information about on the website.

If you're flying in to go to the festival we recommend you fly into Chicago. The festival itself is in Bridgeview, which is about an hour's drive South from the Chicago O'Hare International Airport. You could stay in Downtown Chicago if you wanted to, but just be aware that it's about an hour away from there as well.

For those still trying to plan hotels, flights, and rental cars, do not fear. There’s still time. The EDC Las Vegas website has options for flights and hotel booking at a discounted rate. You’ll get exclusive headliner-only pricing, free parking at the hotel, and discounted resort fees. All you have to do is put in the dates and the number of people in your group and you’ll get a list of hotels on the strip or close to it.

Allegiant is a proud sponsor of EDC Las Vegas and will give you plenty of options from wherever you are. The two airports that you could fly to are McCarran International Airport and North Las Vegas Airport.

Transportation

If you’re not camping, the best mode of transportation will be by shuttle or car. For those that choose to Uber, just be aware that it will be very expensive to go to and from the event since it's outside of Las Vegas. For my first EDC, I drove and it was a great experience. Parking is organized and you get in and out fairly quickly.

At EDC Las Vegas 2021, my group and I bought the shuttle passes and they were lifesavers. It was a fun experience going to the event with everyone on the shuttles. We had a miniature pre-party on the way to the event. The only downside is, that if you’re staying until the very last set, you won’t get back to your hotel until about 7:00 or 8:00 a.m. because of the line. Regardless, it was totally worth it.

The shuttle passes have multiple pick-up points from different locations on the strip. The passes are currently sold out, but there is a waitlist. For those who have the shuttle pass, make sure you arrive to your location a little early in case there’s a line and so you have time to go through security.

Last year the shuttles gave out EDC Las Vegas 2021 fanny packs as a souvenir which was awesome. I used it all three days to hold my necessities for easy access. I still use the fanny pack for other events as well. Hopefully, they will have some merchandise for everyone this year!

EDC is not for the weak. It’s an event that is literally from sunset to sunrise, so get ready. The week prior make sure to get eight hours of sleep each night and hydrate. If you go to EDC Week or some pool parties a couple of days before, take it easy. You don’t want to exhaust all your energy before the event starts. EDC is a magical experience. It’s not just about the music. There are art installations, performers, carnival rides, and downtown EDC. Downtown EDC is where you can find the chapels to get married, a karaoke bar, an open theater, and a silent disco. The most important tip I can give you is to explore. Go to each stage to discover a new favorite artist, walk through the unique shops, admire the art and performers, and build connections with people from all over the world.

EDC has so much to offer, so don’t forget to truly take in the whole experience. The three days will be over before you know it. Don’t forget peace, love, unity, and respect. Look out for one another and have the best time!

The Lineup

Both phases of the lineup are out and I regret not planning to go to this event. The three-day event will include performances from Armhmr, Crystal Skies, Dabin, Jason Ross, Mitis, Duke Dumont, Gryffin, Liquid Stranger, Malaa, and the one and only Skrillex. Phase two announced Illenium, Alesso, Zeds Dead, Tchami, Oliver Heldens, John Summit, Walker and Royce, and Dom Dolla. This lineup is already insane and I’ve only named a couple of the artists. The Event

Sunset will begin in the late afternoon. Doors open at 4:00 pm and will go until midnight at Raymond James Stadium. Tickets, packages, and table service are available for purchase. Ticket options include General Admission, General Admission Plus, and VIP. General Admission starts at 199.95 and general admission plus is 249.95. VIP starts at 319.95. The event is coming up quickly, so I suggest securing your passes soon. If you’re interested in table service, you can fill out a reservation form on the website. There are also hotel and travel packages available. The event will have numerous stages and plenty of activities for you and your rave fam.

Raymond James Stadium is really close to the Tampa airport, so anywhere between the airport and Downtown Tampa will probably be easy to get around if you're looking for hotels. South Tampa has a lot of things to do around the area and is a pretty quick drive to get to the festival, and downtown will likely have after parties or other things to do once the festival ends each night.

What to Wear

During the event, the weather will be a high of 88-94 degrees, with a low of 74 degrees. This is perfect festival weather, though in the Florida humidity it might feel warmer than it is. homegameauction has plenty of outfits to help beat that Florida heat. When I think of Sunset Music Festival, I think of bright colors and patterns.

The Lineup

This year's lineup is completely stacked. 4B, Above and Beyond, Jauz, Benny Benassi, Matroda, Kompany, Nitti Gritti, Zedd, Zeds Dead, and Zomboy are just some of the artists that will be performing. Beyond is having two major back-to-backs. Crystal Skies b2b Nurko and Kai Wachi b2b Phaseone. These will be legendary. If you’re a fan of Seven Lion’s label Ophelia Records, I’d suggest attending this event. Ophelia Records will be taking over Beyond Wonderland. Jason Ross, Gem and Tauri, Mitis, Crystal Skies, and the legend himself, Seven Lions will also be performing. 2022 is going to be a massive year for this label, and I can’t wait to see it.

The Passes

Passes for 2022 have already gone on sale, so get them while you can. General admission is starting at $139 for two days. General admission plus is $189 for the two days. For my VIP goers, passes are starting at $249 for both days. Beyond is offering a more exclusive side to the festival. The SkyDeck tables include bottle service, a restricted private area, some of the best views of the stages, and a golf cart transport to your table. To enjoy the SkyDeck tables, you must 21 years old and provide a valid ID at check-in. If you decide to enjoy the SkyDeck tables, you will be given a separate wristband along with your GA, GA+, or VIP one.

The Experience

The theme of the event is Alice in Wonderland. Not only do you get to listen to some great music, but you get to travel beyond into a whole new world. The stages that have been announced are the Queen’s Domain, Mad Hatter’s Castle, Caterpillar’s Garden, and Cheshire Woods. There are more to be announced, so keep an eye out. Beyond will also have art installations and performers that make the event come to life. You might get to live out your childhood fantasy of meeting Alice and the Queen of Hearts themselves.

What to Wear

Beyond Wonderland 2022 is going to be an amazing event that you won’t want to miss. If you’re debating on attending, I say go for it. The lineup is incredible and the theme is unique. So not only do you get to dress cute, but you also get to experience a completely different event with Insomniac. Remember to spread positivity and love, be kind, care for each other, and explore. The Venue

The NOS Event Center will always hold a special place in my heart. Not only is it a beautiful venue, but it has so much space to hold all the stages and attractions that Insomniac puts together.

For Countdown, Insomniac had multiple stages that all coincided with the alien invasion theme. The stages included Mothership, Nebula, Area 51, and the Twilight Zone. My favorite was the Mothership because it was ginormous and the lasers were bouncing off the sides of the tent, truly bringing us into another planet. Insomniac did an outstanding job with the stages and the event itself. There were carnival rides, a food court, merch tents, and the alien red-light district, to name a few. It was so much fun bouncing from stage to stage and exploring the venue to see all that Insomniac had to offer. 

The Music

Both of the days were stacked with great music. The first day I saw William Black, Dion Timmer, Kai Wachi, Saymyname, Troyboi, and RL Grime. My favorite sets of the night were probably Kai Wachi and Saymyname. Everyone that I saw threw down, but those two stood out to me. Kai Wachi just plays such a unique sound that gets the whole crowd going hard and I love it. That was my first time seeing a full Kai Wachi set and it will not be my last. Saymyname just had the crowd jumping and dancing for the entire hour. The countdown to the new year was in between sets so Insomniac did their countdown to 2022 with some visuals and confetti. It was truly magic.

On day two I saw Nurko, Kaivon, Of the Trees, Jason Ross, Flux Pavillion, Kayzo, and Rezz. My favorite sets of day two were probably Kayzo and Rezz. They both made the crowd come completely alive. I was so sad that day two had come to an end.

The weather was brutal. It was freezing. I bundled up with my artist merch and long sleeves and it was not enough. I hope those of you that attended the event dressed warm and didn’t make my mistake of not bringing a jacket. This was my second New Years' celebration with Insomniac and I am thinking of making it a new tradition.

I always feel alive being with the ones I love listening to some killer music. It makes the whole experience more euphoric. For those of you who went this year, you can attest to that. If you are thinking about ringing in the new year with Insomniac, I can tell you from experience that it will be one you won’t forget. I hope all of you had a safe and exciting New Years' celebration. May 2022 bring us all-new adventures, festivals, and some great new music. Happy New Year! 

Holy Ship! Wrecked

Before the pandemic, HARD announced that they were docking Holy Ship! at the shore and abandoned the cruise ship idea at sea. Luckily, it was one of the very few festivals that happened in 2020 before the world shut down. Now, they are back and ready for 2023. The question remains… what's the difference between Holy Ship! And Holy Ship! Wrecked?

The festival website states, “everything you loved about Holy Ship!...but an all-inclusive resort we have to ourselves. Open bars, tons of pools, complimentary dining options, 24-hour room service, free wi-fi, and four nights in paradise.” Yes, you read that right… All-inclusive. That means not worrying about paying bills or tabs. Just drinks, good food, and killer music. What more could you ask for? The event will include performances by Alison Wonderland, Chris Lake, Subtronics, Zhu, and 12th Planet, to name a few. Tickets are sold out, but you can join the waitlist here.

What to Bring and Wear

For this event, I’d say pack your cutest bikinis, swim trunks, and lots of sunscreens, because you all will be living in a bathing suit for four days. Throw in some of your favorite homegameauction festival sets as well. We have so many new arrivals that will make you stand out from the crowd.

It’s always best to bring some warm clothing to be safe. The weather looks like it's going to be in the '80s but will most likely drop at night time. So bring some artist merch, hoodies, and pashminas to keep you warm.

For my flow artists, don’t forget to bring your gloves, light whips, poi, and hula hoops. You guys bring magic to the experience. homegameauction has some super cute flow toys and accessories that would be perfect for this event. The resort seems to have everything that you could possibly need, so I wouldn’t worry.

What to Expect

It appears that guests will be bouncing around from daytime activities to beach shows, pool parties, and possibly excursions around the area. The resort has numerous pools, two swim-up bars, a waterpark, zipline, and an 18-hole golf course. There are also nine all-inclusive restaurants, an action sports center, and a full-service spa and salon. So it looks like there won’t be one minute of boredom.

This is going to be an event to remember. Believe me when I say, "it's going to be a movie." Count me in for Holy Ship! Wrecked.
