Griz was scheduled for not one, not two, but FOUR sets at Electric Zoo this year. Because of the cancellation of day one, he was only able to play three, but we are still grateful for those amazing shows. He began with an afterparty set on Friday, continued with a solo set on Saturday, and closed out the weekend with a B2B with Zeds Dead. Even after three sets, Griz left us wanting more.

On Friday, the after parties became the main event. Griz saved our night with a thrilling, upbeat show. No matter how many times you see Griz, it never gets old. His lighthearted graphics, rainbow lasers, and fun dance moves make the show just as exciting to watch as it is to listen to. Unfortunately, the after party sold out quickly and not everyone could attend this special event. Luckily for anyone who missed it, they could catch him at the festival on Saturday.

The Electric Zoo lineup was stacked this year, so obviously there were some conflicts. Two major artists, Griz and Zedd, closed out the show on Saturday night. If you chose to see Zedd, here’s what you missed from Griz’s set. He certainly is putting his best foot forward and going out with a bang. There were trippy, funky visuals that really enhanced the experience. He brought out support in the form of trumpeters, rappers and singers. And to top it off, he played new music! Of course, it wouldn’t be Griz if he didn’t hop on the platform and play that sexy saxophone tune.

Since the release of “Ecstacy of the Soul” we have been begging for a Griz B2B Zeds Dead set, and we finally got our wish on Sunday at Electric Zoo. This set was truly like no other. It was somehow both groovy and heavy in the best way possible. We were headbanging to reverberating bass drops one second and swaying to Griz’s euphoric sax sounds the next. This set was funky, wonky and the perfect mix of the artists’ unique sounds.

The beginning of Griz’s hiatus is fast approaching, but he just announced a few more shows. On October 5, Griz will be playing three different sets in Denver. These shows will take place at 2PM, 6PM and 9:30PM at various venues across the city. After the conclusion of these sets, we aren’t sure when we’ll be able to see Griz again, but we know if he decides to make a big return to the stage it will be unforgettable.

For all my techno baddies, the party king himself, John Summit, has ventured into the technoverse with “Revolution.” Known for his house hits and carefree lifestyle, John Summit has become an easily recognizable name in 2022. To close out the year, he dropped his first techno track and it’s awesome. The piece, driven by repetitive percussion and bass, is elevated with synths to create a total banger.

Runaway (U & I) Subtronics Remix - Subtronics

In 2015, “Runaway (U & I)” by Galantis became the song of the summer with its pop-house sound. It took eight years for Subtronics to produce and release his remix to this track but it was worth the wait. This is truly a personality piece for Jesse, who wasn’t afraid to get weird with this one. You’d never expect to hear a heavy dubstep drop and wacky soundbytes in “Runaway (U & I)” but he hit us with the unexpected.

Nightmare On Rezz Street 2 - Rezz

Thrive - Slander

After teasing this album for what felt like forever, Slander finally released Thrive on September 22nd. We got a taste of the album with “Love Is Gone” and we adored it, immediately making it the duo’s most played single on Spotify. Thrive starts with emotional love ballads, as we’d expect from Slander. They showed us on their most recent EP that they had been experimenting with techno, and you’ll find a couple similar tracks at the end of this album as well.

This track takes a minute and a half to drop but boy is it worth the wait. For that first minute and a half you’ll be transported to another dimension. Only listen to the words if you want to question your entire existence. And finally, the neck-breaking drop. With dirty wubs and rhythmic bass, it’s one to remember.

When I rewear old pieces, I like to wear them to a new venue so it doesn’t feel totally repetitive. Your local club and a major festival have entirely different feels. You’ll be seeing different people and hearing different music, so you won’t need a brand new outfit to have an original experience. Try pairing pieces you wore to festivals with toned-down club wear for a new look, or vice versa. 

Try Adjustable Or Reversible Pieces

Adjustable and reversible pieces are awesome because they’re super easy to style in different ways. You can tie any basic triangle top in countless ways. Flip it upside down, and crisscross the straps so that the options are pretty much endless.

Swap With Friends

You don’t have to throw out your old outfits just because you don’t plan on wearing them ever again. If any of your friends wear the same size as you, have a rave clothes swap party. You’ll save money, be sustainable and be able to share with your friends!

Accessorize Differently

Accessories can make any outfit new. The easiest way to do this is with an all-black outfit like the Ride Or Die Outfit. Colorful gloves, earrings, and hair extensions will completely change the look. You can also switch it up just by reaching for the gold glitter instead of the silver next time.

Keep It Clean

So this tip isn’t as much about styling as it is about caring for your rave clothes. We all know festivals can get muddy, dusty, sweaty, and just gross. You should try your best to hand wash your outfits as soon as possible to get any stains out. Store them neatly so they don’t wrinkle or crease, and they’ll look as good as new next time you need something to wear!

Sell Or Swap On Social Media

Maybe you’ve worn a piece one too many times, or you’re just looking for something else. You can still get something new while recycling worn clothes. There are a ton of social media groups dedicated to selling or swapping ravewear. Radiate and Facebook are great places to start, and with this option you can even make some money while saving the planet!

Just Re-wear It!

There’s no shame in wearing the same outfit twice. Festivals are expensive and you shouldn’t feel like you need to buy a new outfit in addition to your ticket. My guess is that no one at this festival has even seen you wear the fit before, so don’t be afraid to just rewear it!

“I’m expecting it to be like the festivals I used to go to when I was your age”

Now that the festival is over, my mom admits that modern-day fests are not like anything she had previously seen. One of the biggest differences she noticed was the fashion. Festival fashion is so important to the scene today, and it gives people the chance to express themselves in a judgment-free zone. At IleSoniq, it felt like everyone was wearing mesh or vinyl. These trends were styled in so many fun and unique ways! I wore the Its My World Vinyl Skirt in neon pink and got so many compliments! Although I didn’t wear any mesh, I saw quite a few ravers looking absolutely stunning in mesh pants like the Sweet Thing High Waist Mesh Bell Bottoms.

The second thing that surprised my mom the most was the dancing. The headbangers and shufflers did not disappoint at IleSoniq, and my mom noticed. She said that the free-spirited dancing “was part of what made [her] like it so much.” She even got into a little headbanging at Subtronics, and who could blame her? He killed it.

“People weren’t there just to have fun themselves, they wanted to share it with you, even if you were a stranger to them”

As most ravers know, there are no strangers at festivals, and we are all best friends for the weekend. My mom was amazed by how many people came up to us to compliment our outfits, ask us to dance, or just to say hi. They were always stoked to find out we were mother and daughter. Everyone was extremely welcoming and did a great job hyping my mom up for her first rave!

“When Swedish House Mafia began their set, I forgot my uneasiness completely and just became one with the crowd”

My mom ended up liking the music a lot more than either of us expected. Swedish House Mafia was her number one, followed by Louis the Child. I guessed correctly when I assumed house would be her top genre, but I was shocked when she said that three of her favorite artists were Subtronics, Sullivan King and Svdden Death. She did say that bass music was “tedious after a few minutes” and “all sounded the same.” As a dedicated headbanger myself, I’ll let it slide because if you don’t know what you’re listening for, dubstep can definitely seem repetitive at times.

Overall, my mom had an awesome time at her first EDM festival. She said she would love to do it again, so don’t be surprised if you see her headbanging to Subtronics or singing along to Louis the Child!

Breakaway Music Festival

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Breakaway is a smaller festival but it happens five times a year in five different cities! Breakaway North Carolina is the only east coast location, however, you can also catch this show in Missouri, Ohio, Michigan and California. You’ll find Tiesto and Sullivan King among other great names on this year’s NC lineup.

Elements Music and Arts Festival

Location: Long Pond, Pennsylvania
Dates: August 18-22, 2022

This unique festival offers ravers a weekend of music, art and wellness. Stages named after the four elements, water, air, fire and earth, feature different genres of EDM. The 2022 lineup has a great selection of DJs like Zeds Dead and Liquid Stranger. If you ever need a break from headbanging, you can interact with the art or take a yoga class!

Imagine Music Festival

Location: Kingston Downs, Georgia
Dates: September 15-18, 2022

This four day camping fest is truly an experience. Between the four stages, pool parties, rides, and live art, I doubt you’ll ever find yourself wishing there was more to do at Imagine. With performers including Excision, GRiZ and Ganja White Night, this year’s lineup is totally stacked.

While you will surely find other festival goers staying in your hotel, you can’t beat the social aspect of camping. You’ll have instant new friends in your tent neighbors and the opportunity to interact with other people who love EDM as much as you do. You can explore the campgrounds and meet tons of new people, and end up partying all weekend with new best friends!

However, in a hotel you’ll have the chance to really get closer with your rave fam. In a more intimate setting you can really focus on bonding with each other without the chaos of the campsites.

You’re probably wondering how you can take care of yourself at a campsite all weekend when you’re covered in glitter and dancing for hours on end. You can usually pay for access to showers on the campgrounds. Personally, I think those showers were each the best $8 I ever spent. You can always make your own “shower” with a jug of water or baby wipes. It’s unlikely that you’ll have access to running water, so remember to save some for brushing your teeth.

The bathroom situation will be similar to what’s inside the venue. Obviously in a hotel, you’d have running water and electricity. Showering, using the bathroom and getting ready before the festival will be a lot easier.

Food

No matter which housing arrangement you choose, it’s smart to bring at least some of your own food. Some festivals will even let you bring small grills to the campgrounds for cooking, and they usually have vendors selling breakfast.

You should stick to foods that don’t require refrigeration like pb&j sandwiches, protein bars, chips, and other snacks. In a hotel, you’ll probably have access to a microwave and nearby restaurants. Either way, I recommend keeping plenty of munchies on hand for after the fest.

Sleep

Obviously you’ll sleep more soundly in a real bed in an air conditioned room, but that doesn’t mean you need to compromise too much on sleep at a campsite. It may be a little noisy, and tents can get hot so be prepared. Cots are great investments.They provide more air flow and will prevent you from waking up in a puddle if you have a leaky tent on a rainy night. You can also try a yoga mat. It’ll provide more padding to sleep on and double as a place to sit or stretch outside in the morning!

To Summarize

Both camping and staying in a hotel are good options, it really depends on what kind of experience you are looking for and what kind of festival it is. A hotel provides a place to rest and recharge, while camping keeps the party going. If you are camping, be prepared for all kinds of weather. It can get cold and rainy at night, or feel like you are being baked alive in your tent. If you choose a hotel, the best feeling in the world is taking a hot shower and collapsing into a comfortable bed after a long day of dancing. No matter which you choose, you’re going to have a blast!

The Early Days of the '90s

As raving became more mainstream, the outfits began to evolve. In the early 90’s, people were wearing a lot of loose-fit clothing, pretty much the opposite of today’s tight booty shorts. The psychedelic look was huge; everyone was sporting bright colors, tie-dye and trippy prints. The classic yellow smiley face tee became legendary in the rave community.

Lost In The Speed Outfit

A lot of the 90’s rave fashion trends came from practicality rather than aesthetic. Bucket hats, which have made a huge comeback, were great for keeping people sheltered from the sun or rain. Adidas sneakers were both stylish and comfortable to dance in for hours at a time. Phat pants allowed for great mobility and a more breathable outfit.

In the mid-90’s, boiler suits became THE thing to wear to a rave. Whistles and pacifiers were also hot accessories. The Spice Girls had a major influence on rave fashion and we saw the rise of cyber-inspired looks. Visors, a 90’s fashion staple, had their moment in the rave community too.

In the Early 2000s

The early 2000s were marked by a period of time many will recognize today as the bloghouse era. This era saw the rise of acts like the Bloody Beetroots, Daft Punk, Justice and Crystal Castles, and birthed the careers of acts like Steve Aoki and A-Trak who dominated dance music in the early 2010s as a result. The fashion at this time incorporated a lot of black with touches of neon, metallic textures and spiky hair.

This was the era of plastic neon sunglasses, thick eyeliner, bits of neon and mesh that paved the way for the kandi colored PLUR vibes of the late 2000s and early 2010s. Looking at photos from the bloghouse era you can still see ghosts of rave fashion’s past with the casual outfits, blended with a few pieces of kandi starting to emerge here and there. 

Raving in the 2010s

In the early 2010s, we entered an iconic era of rave fashion. This is when we started to see elements of the style we know now, including revealing outfits that featured neon colors, glitter, and fuzzy leg warmers. Every girl at the festival was wearing a bedazzled bra and a flower crown. This was when kandi really started to gain some momentum as well.

At this time EDM was heading more into the mainstream, and you started to see a lot of brands pop up that were dedicated only to rave fashion (homegameauction was one!). By this time, LED lights were the perfect addition to any outfit. Whether they lit up flower crowns, leg warmers, or a jacket, these lights were stylish. Anything alien related was trending, too. Think shiny fabrics, alien heads, and holographic prints.

The 2010s saw a lot of evolution in rave fashion, probably because raves and festivals really hit the mainstream with the rise of events like EDC Las Vegas and Ultra Music Festival, which really took off during these years. By the time the 2010s were wrapping up, you would be shocked to see the fluffy boots, tutus, and bedazzled bras that you saw at the rave in 2012 on a dancefloor in 2019.

Looking Ahead: The Roaring '20s

Today, there are a lot of different ways we can go with an outfit while still keeping it trendy. Rave fashion is more about expressing your own taste than it is about fitting in with the scene these days, so there are a lot of vibes u can pick from when creating ur rave look. In fact, we have a quiz just for that if u don’t know what vibe to go for.

It’s very popular to throw it back to the 70’s and get groovy with your style, or rock an all black look and cultivate an edgier vibe. Ravers are dressing in strappy tops that show off underboob and thong or cheeky bottoms. Mini skirts and ultra crop tops are also super fashionable.

In the end, it’s all about being comfortable and feeling like your best self. Although I love these trends, it’s exciting to think that in a few years there could be a whole new wave of rave fashion. No matter how much the outfits change, raving will always be a magical experience!

XYZ – Deadmau5

This nine and a half minute track was the first drop from Deadmau5’s  We Are Friends XI Compilation. The release date for the rest of this piece is tbd, but “XYZ” certainly has house heads pumped for it. With a song this long, Deadmau5 could really take his time with the build up in the intro. You’ll hear a lot of his signature beat repetition, along with the addition of various other sounds like synths and kick drums that’ll really tickle your brain.

“XYZ” is another one of Deadmau5’s instrumental house hits that’ll keep you engaged for almost ten straight minutes. These bottoms are mostly black with a fun splash of color and they totally match the vibe of this song.

Walkerverse Pt. 1 – Alan Walker

On June 17th Alan Walker released his five song EP,  Walkerverse Pt. 1. He starts off strong with “Adventure Time.” The beginning of this number truly makes you feel like you’re heading into an exciting adventure and delivers with a super energizing drop. You won’t be wishing this instrumental track had vocals to sing along to, you’ll be too busy dancing. “Hello World” closes out the EP with a tropical tune and catchy lyrics. Each track is great in its own way, so you won’t be needing the skip button at all during this fifteen minute collection.

Escape (feat. Hayla) [Subtronics Remix] – Subtronics

Subtronics has finally gifted us with this mix after debuting it at EDC last month. John Summit, who also recently remixed “Escape,” helped Subtronics come up with the perfect drop. From high-pitched tones to gritty bass, when you hear this track for the first time you’ll have no idea what to expect next.

Laserbeam – Ray Volpe

This song has been teased for quite a while on social media and was finally released on June 24th. It is already a trending audio on TikTok, paired with creators’ favorite laser shows. This dubstep track gained traction when Excision played it at Thunderdome, and went on to be the most played record at EDC this year. Now, the bass masterpiece is finally available for us to stream!

Charli XCX is having a moment this summer with shows all over the world at major music festivals. This surprise collaboration with Tiesto will be the song of the summer when it hits dancefloors. It's the perfect blend of groovy basslines and catchy lyrics to have you dancing all night long.

It's too bad Hot In It came out on the last day of June because there's no better Pride anthem than a Charli XCX banger about looking hot. No one says pride month has to end though, so this is the fit I would recommend for any of Charli's upcoming shows. Boise will NOT know what hit it!

I really vibed with the other three unicorns, which made for a very fun weekend. Shoutout to Madelena, Scarlet and Hayley, I had an awesome time getting to know you and raging with you! Attending a festival as a Unicorn was a completely unique way to experience a show. I always like to meet new people at festivals, but it was even easier as a Unicorn. Since we were encouraged to make friends, I definitely approached a lot more people than I would have normally. We all left with countless new rave buddies, even some from our hometowns!

Obviously, one of the coolest parts of being a Unicorn is getting personally styled outfits from homegameauction. Project GLOW was a two-day festival, so we each got two outfits. One was groovy themed and the other was more edgy. Both outfits were adorable and made me feel super confident.

It was clear the homegameauction team killed it with the outfit planning, because people were complimenting us on our style all weekend. From the moment we walked through the gates, we felt like celebrities. I didn’t realize just how well-known the Unicorn Crew was until experiencing it first-hand. So many people recognized us!

As for the festival itself, I think Insomniac and Club Glow did an insanely good job. I was definitely a little skeptical since it was the first time this event was being held, but it was executed very well. We met a lot of first-time ravers who were pumped to get into the scene and learn about rave culture. For the most part, the vibes were great and everyone was super nice.

The lineup was impressive, including big names like GRiZ, Seven Lions, and Martin Garrix. I loved how they had some local DJs performing in the mornings too. The venue was pretty small but the stages were far enough apart that there wasn’t much sound interference between them. Of course, there is always room for improvement with any festival. A bigger lineup, more vendors and interactive experiences could have enhanced the event. For a first time festival I think that Project GLOW was amazing, and I bet that it will get even better next year!

Overall, my weekend as an homegameauction Unicorn at Project Glow was unmatched. I made a ton of new friends, got to sport some spectacular outfits and dance all weekend. Being a Unicorn was such an incredible experience and I hope to do it again soon!

Festival fashion is unique to say the least, so you should give your friend a heads up on how people will generally be dressed. First and foremost, encourage them to be comfortable. The great thing about raves is that no one will judge you for how you’re dressed. They’re going to be on their feet all day so comfort should be a priority. Get your friend up to date on the current festival fashion trends. Figuring out a festival’s layout can be confusing. You should make sure your friend knows where important things are like the bathrooms, water stations and med tents. Warn them that the phone reception won’t be great and designate an easily identifiable landmark as a meeting place in case you get separated. Show them around the stages, art installations and shady spots. It's also a good idea to let them know that medical services at festivals are there to help them, so they shouldn't feel afraid to get medical attention if they need it—even for just a band aid!

Make sure they’re prepared

If this is your friend’s first festival, they may not know what to bring. Be their rave mom or dad for the weekend and make sure they always have access to gum, water and band aids. Don’t forget to bring pain killers to your campsite or hotel. They probably aren’t used to dancing for 12 hours at a time! Sandstorm: the ultimate hype song. This is one that will make everyone rage like nobody’s watching. It was released 23 years ago and is still a crowd favorite.

Stereo Love - Edward Maya

This is like the ultimate tropical vibe EDM song. This song feels like a sunset beach club on an island like Ibiza or Bali. This song was released in 2009 but feels like a complete classic.

Everytime We Touch - Cascada

This number was playing on every station in 2006, and it’s one of the best throwback EDM songs. Belt it out and reminisce on the mid-2000’s.

Don't You Worry Child - Swedish House Mafia

You can't think about famous EDM songs without thinking about Swedish House Mafia. This beloved classic came back this year when Swedish House Mafia reunited at Coachella and it was a slice of nostalgic heaven for ravers that grew up in this era.

Levels - Avicii

Avicii produced hit after hit in his prime. The one he is probably most well known for is “Levels”. You may recognize the lyrics, sampled from Etta James’ “Something’s Got A Hold On Me.” “Levels’” iconic beat is still remixed into any and every song today.

Bangarang - Skrillex

It was pretty hard to pick just one of Skrillex’s bangers for this list. We have to give “Cinema” and “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” an honorable mention because like “Bangarang,” they are truly exceptional. 

One More Time - Daft Punk

“One More Time” quickly became a party anthem in 2000. Not only does it have a killer beat, but it’s fun to sing along to! Rolling Stone even named it the number one dance song of all time.

Animals - Martin Garrix

Believe it or not, Martin Garrix was only 17 years old when this ultra-famous track was released. Garrix’s use of Pryda snares is sure to get you moving even before the first drop. This one is known for generating intensity. 

I Can’t Stop - Flux Pavilion

“I Can’t Stop” helped bring melodic dubstep to life back in the early 2010’s. The drop is exhilarating and the lyrics perfectly encapsulate the energy it produces. You won’t be able to stop dancing to this one.

Clarity - Zedd ft. Foxes

This is one of the ultimate bangers that came out in 2012. Clarity was one of the first major EDM radio hits to make it onto Top 40 radio at the time and was a true cultural reset. Today it's considered a classic.

Tsunami - DVBBS & Borgeous

“Tsunami” is commonly played at festivals, raves and sports games. It almost immediately became the most mixed song at festivals around the world in 2013 and is still hot today.

Pursuit of Happiness - Kid Cudi ft. MGMT & Ratatat, remix by Steve Aoki

This party mix has been hyping up crowds everywhere since its release in 2009. The combination of Steve Aoki’s electrifying drops and Kid Cudi’s killer vocals creates an unbeatable energy.

The Middle - Zedd

We wanted to include a more recent release and The Middle was an easy choice. With over a billion streams since it came out in 2018, this song is certainly a hit.

It was almost impossible to pick just a handful of songs you need to hear before your first rave because there are so many legendary tracks to choose from! Check out these songs and browse your favorite streaming service for more. You can start with anything by Avicii, Skrillex or Swedish House Mafia to get yourself excited to enter the world of raving.

Cat Cow

Cat Cow is a simple pose that focuses on warming up your spine for a day full of dancing. It is also calming and can help ease some of your pre-festival anxiety. When doing Cat Cow, you’re forced to focus on your breathing and live in the moment.

To start this pose, get on your hands and knees. You can begin with Cow, taking a deep breath in, letting your stomach stretch down toward the ground. Tilt your head back, look up to the sky, and take in all the positive energy around you. Next, you move on to the Cat portion. Breathe out as you arch your back, engaging your core and pulling your stomach back up toward the ceiling. Tuck your chin down to your chest. You can repeat these steps as many times as you’d like, until all that anxiety is gone and you feel ready to conquer the day!

Warrior II

You’re about to spend an entire day, or weekend, walking and dancing. You should prepare your legs! Warrior II will stretch out your legs, hips and groin muscles while making you feel super powerful and pumped up for a day of fun.

Start with your feet a bit wider than your shoulders and turn your right toes toward the front on your mat. Bend your right knee over your ankle and keep your left leg straight. Reach your arms out toward either end of the mat and get energized!

Easy Pose

It’s all in the name; this pose is easy! It’s a great one to do while you’re inside the festival because all you have to do is sit. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the action, try this pose to relax.

All you need to do is sit cross-legged with your feet under the opposite knee. Sit up straight, focus on your breathing, and enjoy a calming stretch for your inner thighs. When you’re ready to hit the next set, you’ll likely have great posture and an even better attitude!

Kneeling Foot Stretch

Did you spend the last 12 hours shuffling? You’re going to need to show your feet some love! The Kneeling Foot Stretch will stretch out your toes and feet so you can show off your moves with minimal pain.

Start by kneeling, with your toes on the ground and your heels high. Slowly lean back until your butt is sitting on your heels and you feel the stretch in your arch and toes. Hold the pose for about thirty seconds, then lean forward to rest. Repeat as needed.

Child’s Pose

This one’s for all the headbangers out there. Child’s pose will stretch out your spine, release tension in your shoulders and help you recover from a day of neck-breaking.

All you have to do is kneel with your feet together, place your palms on the mat as far in front of you as you can reach and let your forehead rest on the mat. This pose will also help you relax and get you ready for a good night’s sleep!

Onyx by Excision

This entire album is a must listen for Excision fans. It just dropped on January 13 but we’ve already played it all the way through at least 100 times. You can definitely hear Excision’s signature mechanical sound throughout, but he also gets creative with changes in bpm, melodic drops and vocals. The more emotional “Temporary Blue” is followed by “Reborn,” an absolute neck-breaker. A lot of the songs also have a spoken word element that is guaranteed to hype up any crowd and build the excitement.

The look: Leave U Breathless Outfit

Every track on Onyx radiates intensity and your outfit should do the same. This all black outfit will have you looking and feeling fearless for the ultimate dubstep adventure.

Fractals by Subtronics

Before we even had time to process Onyx, Subtronics dropped Fractals the next day. After listening to this album, we can confirm another great release for the dubstep community. Fractals was trending on Twitter almost immediately after its release, and for good reason. Every song on it is a banger. This was Subtronics’ debut album and it really showcases his range. Listen to “Take Flight VIP” and “Hieroglyph” and you’ll hear just how successful Subtronics was experimenting with different sound elements, such as frequency and vocal tone.

The look: Go Get ‘Em Reflective Chaps

Subtronics used this album to show off his assets and you should do the same! You’re sure to be noticed in any crowd in these reflective chaps. Pair them with your favorite booty short set and prepare for an epic journey through “Spacetime.”

Forget About Me by Diplo, Aluna and Durante

Moving away from dubstep and onto house, Diplo, Aluna and Durante gifted us with “Forget About Me” on the same day Subtronics gave us Fractals. Needless to say, it was an awesome day. This song is the ideal soundtrack for chilling on a beach. The use of steel drums creates a tropical vibe that is bound to help you embrace the sun or mentally escape the winter.

The look: Purple Plurmaid Outfit

The Purple Plurmaid Outfit completely matches the vibes of “Forget About Me.” The long wig, mirrored triangle top and flowy maxi skirt will make you feel like you’re getting ready for a day at the beach.

Menace by Rezz

Rezz blessed us with her newest album, Spiral, back in November but just hit us with a bonus track on January 7. Spiral was already an elite album, featuring collabs with a ton of artists like PEEKABOO and PVRIS. The addition of Menace really tied it together. Menace is exactly the kind of hypnotic track we would expect from Space Mom and it fits flawlessly with the rest of the album. Listen for those gritty basslines and mesmerizing tempo that we all know and love in Rezz’s music.

Rezz is known for her iconic light up goggles, so obviously you need a similar pair to show your support! These have over 350 light modes to help you match the vibe of any song she throws at you.

UNSOUND EP by NGHTMRE

For the first time in five years, NGHTMRE dropped a new EP on January 21. UNSOUND EP is just what we needed as we patiently await his album. This EP features four tracks, all collabs with other artists. “Euphoria” and “Sweetest Things” are lighter and more pop-esque while things get a little heavier with “Signal” and “Ring the Alarm.” These are all going to be great songs to hear live. The beat of “Signal” is set up for the ultimate laser show and the use of synths in “Ring the Alarm” is sure to boost the crowd’s energy.
